Grainware 70371 Cake Plate with Dome - 13.5 in.

When my plate arrived, I was surprised that it is not glass. Perhaps I missed that in product description. Initially, I was somewhat disappointed. But, it didn't take me long to love the plate. It holds very large cakes -- A 9" round, torted cake with flowers on top and around the bottom fit nicely under the cover. I have been looking a long time for something large enough, reasonably price and appealing to the eye for my fancy cakes. This one is just what I needed. The acrylic is very clear and looks like glass; I don't have to worry about breaking it. Because it is not glass, it is not overly heavy once the cake is on it. The only negative is that the cover slides around slightly if you are not careful when you transport the cake.

Very disappointed in this product. Listed as "New" but had random initials engraved around the dome. Looked like someone was practicing engraving. No mention of the engravings in the description of the item. Naturally had to return it as I had bought it as a gift to have a local engraver put my granddaughters initials on it. The dealer has been gracious about the return and refunding me the cost of the cake plate and dome and the cost I incurred returning the cake plate and dome. So sad because this cake plate and dome are exactly like the one I received many years ago from a very dear friend and I was so excited when I found the identical plate.

This is my favorite thing I have ever gotten from Amazon. It is very heavy plastic, but in a different class altogether from plastic. The top fits very nicely into the base. The knob makes it easy to lift the cover.

if you have high expectations, this is for you. it looks like glass, it's dish washer safe, and on your counter it shows off any desert. The large size fits many wonderful deserts like cheese cake and large muffins.

This cake plate and dome are plastic. It does not keep out flies as it is unlevel and it allows the cake to dry out quickly.

What happened to this set? The bottom plate appears to be made for a wider dome. I called and was told this is how they are made. So you have an inside plate measurment of 12 5/8 inch and the outside of the dome with 11 1/2 inch size. This makes for a sloppy fit with the dome moving around if you should try and carry it with you to take to someone's home. My older worn out version fit together nicely. I received this as a gift so I will keep it but would recommend looking for a better fitting cake plate with dome if you ever plan on taking it someplace other than just sitting it in one spot.
