So far I love them.
Okay so I've had them out of the box for 10 minutes so only time will tell. I work online and care primarily about decent sound (not really an audiophile), a great microphone, and durability. I'm so tired of gluing my headsets and earbuds back together with super glue. I go through several pair a year. These are very solid metal on the earpiece and the chord is long enough ;(not too short) and made of some kind of flat plastic (?) that seems much heftier than the normal wimpy chords. If these last me a year, I will be very impressed just because I am used to the plastic garbage that falls apart in a few months. I also sound checked the mic on my computer and it was crystal clear. I am confident that when I am running meetings online I will have no issues with this microphone. I need earphones and a mic that function well since I use them everyday for work. I am NOT an audiophile and while I will use them to listen to music sometimes, it was not my primary purpose. The sound is clear for calls and sounds fine for music. I am thinking about buying a few more pairs in case I can't find them anymore or even to give as gifts. But in closing I add, only time will tell. I will repost in a few months with an update.

A lot of the reviews here suggest these have "surprisingly good performance" and "good bass that bumps in the background." On the strength of these reviews and from the wirecutter.com recommendation, I tried them. All I can say is that the sound is terrible. I buy headphones every so often, trying to find the perfect balance of cost and performance, but these are literally the worst headphones I've bought. The bass is literally nonexistent. For any sound originating below 500 hz, you are just hearing the overtones. And those overtones are fairly awful - treble frequencies are blown out so much and are so muddy that the closest thing I could find to compare it to was AM radio. I have old $10 headphones that are much better than these.Do yourself a favor and do not buy these.

Tangle-free (mostly), sturdy, good mic
Who would have guessed that cell phone earphones would be the bane of my existence?I find myself buying a pair almost every month as most seem to be designed to break or stop working. Yeah I suppose they'd last longer if I didn't crumple them up when I stick them in my jeans pocket. But I'm a guy and that's what we do.But these Cootree seem to be doing the trick. They don't tangle too much and when they do untangle quite easily. People can hear me when I'm walking down a noisy street and I them. Can't give them 5 stars yet because I haven't owned them that long but they do look promising

Good for bass and built-in microphone. Some critical problems with design.
I have had this for about 6 months now, and I already had an interaction with the seller about some of its problems. I feel like I should write this down for anyone even remotely considering to buying this:Good:- The bass is really really good and I like every low-frequency details in these earphones. I am a bass-head and I like to head-bang sometimes to electronic music. I listen to a lot of electronic music like dubstep, drumstep, chillstep, glitchstep, trap chill, mainstage, and electro-house.- Mic works and I have no issues. In fact I bought this specifically for the mic, and therefore I've been putting up with it for this long. Not good:- If you have not cleaned your ears within the day, then it will slip out of your ears, because the ear pieces are kind of heavy.- The frequency response is enhanced for bass only, I cannot hear anything else equally well. When I switch to the Panasonic RP-HJE120, I feel like I can finally hear music and the sound feels alive.- As mentioned before, I like to head-bang to my music, which means that the rubber cord that the cans come with, sways a lot and I can hear the rubber swaying. I have to stay completely still while listening to my music and cannot enjoy the bass the way I want to.- Also because the cord is a rubber material, it picks up the static from my sweatshirt / woolen-clothes and carries it to the end of the earpiece and delivers it to my ears. Yes, I get electrocuted by these earphones, as funny as it sounds. To summarize, in terms of music, I can only hear the details in the bass, and nothing else from the mids and highs is audible as well. I keep increasing the volume to compensate and that's not good for my hearing. The two biggest non-music related problems are that I have to stay completely still to listen to these, otherwise I hear the rubbery sounds from moving the cord even a little, in addition to my music. Secondly, I receive shocks inside my ears when static carries from the cord when rubbing against my woolen clothes. Never experienced that from earphones before.I was later sent a different pair of earphones without charge but that slips off my ears more easily than these ones and that did not resolve anything.

Good construction = they don't stay put
Earbud fit is obviously a subjective thing, but these just didn't work for me. I was previously using the earbuds with mic that came with my old Samsung Galaxy phone. Those worked great for years and eventually the right bud shorted out (probably from being thrown into bags and pockets for so long). I decided to give these Cootree buds a try based on the positive reviews. The appearance and construction of them was good. In part, I think the substantial construction led to my issues. The buds and the cord are well-made but relatively heavy. What that meant for me was, on a simple walk around the block, they would work their way out of my ears every couple minutes. I think the weight of the cord swinging back and forth made the problem worse. I tried all of the included tips as well as the ones from my old Nexus earbuds, and could never get them to stay put. When they were in place, the sound was good - granted I'm not overly picky when it comes to earbud sound as I'm not doing critical listening.Bottom line - I returned these and replaced them with the Panasonic Ergofit buds. The Panasonic are much lighter plastic and thinner cord - some might say that translates to "cheap" but for me, it's a plus as they stay put better in my ears!
