Reprinted
I bought this on Kindle, thinking "this sounds cute" and was happy to see a "new" book from this author. Less than a chapter in my thought was "this is awfully familiar"---although the publishing date is 2017, this is a reprint from years and years ago when it was published as a harlequin romance. I attempted to return for a refund through the app and was declined (though I believe that is amazon and not author specific). I'm rather discouraged by all the reprints from authors like Phillips and Roberts that attempt to make the customer think the book is new when it is potentially decades old.Had this reprint nonsense not occurred, I would have give the novel 3 stars as it is an easy read, perfect for an airplane or lazy afternoon. However, it is bit fluffy and less than realistic with the first meet of the male and female protagonists. Pretty much in line with all of the other earlier Phillips books--pleasant to read for an hour or two and then utterly forgettable.

An enjoyable romance with a dash of mystery thrown in
I hadn't read any Carly Phillips books before and I was pleasantly surprised by this book. The eligible bachelor storyline seemed a bit strange for me and I wasn't sure if I'd like it, but I'm really glad I gave it a go. Coop, a successful crime beat reporter, is in the right place at the right time to foil a robbery on a jewellery store. He is put on the spot to choose a piece of jewellery from the shop as a reward and chooses what he believes is the gaudiest, and what he consequently assumes to be the least expensive, ring from the collection of trinkets. Lexie sees the ring on the news as Coop becomes the city's most eligible bachelor in a series being run by his newspaper and sets out to purchase the piece as a surprise for her grandmother who has a necklace that seems to match it. Lexie and Coop are immediately drawn to each other. The ring appears to have been stolen decades ago and Coop uses this as inspiration to spark his ambitions of being a successful author, with Lexie helping him on the understanding she could purchase the ring at the conclusion of their investigation. This was an entertaining read with a good amount of steam and romance throughout it. The characters were likeable and although there wasn't a great deal of suspense or build up, I was entertained for the entire book and enjoyed the element of mystery, although pretty obvious, woven through the plot. The characters were good (although I found Lexie's family a bit frustrating). The end does lead into the next book, but not in a way that you need to buy the next installment. The only thing that frustrated me a little bit was the toing and froing between Lexie and Coop - they were both really into each other but were convinced due to personal lifestyle choices that it would be short term only, regardless of their attraction. This came up a bit as Lexie loved to travel and made it clear she wouldn't be hanging around and Coop wanted something more permanent. This book was free, but having read it, I would have been happy to pay for it because I really enjoyed it. I will continue with the other books in the series.

Romantic and humorous
Oh I love these romance books that add a bit of humour. Its a really easy read, just right for reading whilst sitting on the beach or round the swimming pool. The grandmother and her friend Syliva are wonderful, the banter between the two is hilarious. The main characters Coop and Lexie are wonderful together. I loved the romance between them and enjoyed the storyline. A few surprises along the way, for the good, and it kept me laughing out loud. The ending was a bit abrupt but all in all a good story.

Cute
Cute story. I liked it well enough, but it felt drawn out. I skimmed, which is a definite star dropper for me.

Another great book by Carly Phillips
Another great book by Carly Phillips. Coop is a crime reporter and Lizzie is having fun visiting places around the world with no permanent place to call home. She has returned to her hometown to help her grandmother and take a break before heading out on her next adventure. But Coop witnesses a robbery and finds himself the center of attention as well as being dubbed the "Most Eligible Bachelor."This story has twists and turns throughout that keep you guessing what the outcome will be. A very enjoyable read. "I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book."

A Definite Joy to Read.
No spoiler alerts here. Loved this book! Twists in the plot that I didn't see coming and strong characters made this a great read. I always appreciate a bit of humour and banter between the leads and Coop and Lexie didn't let me down. Her feisty grandmother kept me laughing. Hope to be like her when I am her age.
