By far my favourite translation of Catullus. As a Latin teacher, I've read quite a few!

Brilliant work, Catullus 63 is much more freely laud out than the original and extremely striking, knocks you over like a monster truck. All of them haven't stinted on viscerality

These poems show exceptional range, from shockingly funny to emotionally wounding in their lyricism -- an unmissable translation!

Reading these is like being transported to a living breathing shocking filthy muddy glorious Rome. They capture, in recognizably modern terms, the underlaying reality of the human experience seen through the lens of Catullus. Which you wouldn't think would be the case, at least I didn't, but there you go, part of the genius.Try to catch some of them being performed live if you can. The spoken word experience is particularly glorious.
