Infectious Synth Confections...... YUMMY!!
Mmmm, if one could say YUMMY in relation to sounds then this is one of the most gourmet confections of the synth-pop genre! The infectious Safety Dance is present and correct, but the whole album is in a pleasingly similar vein and one wonders why it isn't hailed as the classic that it is!

Forgot how good it sounded
I first bought this amazing album on vinyl at the tender age of 17, after being blown away by the Teutonic tones of the Safety Dance. I wore it out after a couple of months. After not hearing it for 30 years, I recently purchased it on cd and Yes it was more amazing then I remembered. It took me straight back to 83 as soon as I heard the vocal on the opening track,- Ban the game. Then as I got to my almost forgotten favorite songs,- The great ones remember, I got the message, Ideas for walls and Things in my life, I was all of a tingle covered in goose bumps! It's a while since I can remember that happening whilst rediscovering long lost music. I compare them to a 'more energetic' Kraftwerk. BRILLIANT!!!Sean Bradley 2014.

Fantastic synth pop
Having worn out my record needle playing my original vinyl version of this album, I was delighted to see it released on cd...and would have paid double the price! Men without Hats are not just about "The Safety Dance" a favourite at any early eighties disco and background tune for many a Brat Pack movie. Ofcourse, the Safety Dance is fantastic and on this album (there are remixes too). But it is just one of many great tunes on this cd.It is the lead singer's unique voice and crazy lyrics that I love along with the plinkiest of plonky synthesiser tunes. "I like" and "Ideas for Walls" are just as worthy as Dancefloor fillers as are the less successful singles "Living in China" "I got the message" and "Antarctica." It is one of my favourite albums of all time- alongside Depeche Mode's "Speak and Spell"...but beware as I am a true synth-pop junkie. So for many this album might be too shallow and simplistic. If you want deep, meaningful lyrics and multilayered instrumentals then steer clear.

Not the same item as pictured - Vinyl
What actually arrived is NOT what is pictured. Mine was sold by Fulton not Amazon but if you like the track 'Living in China' I would double check because it's not on this one. Wouldn't have ordered it if I knew but not bothered returning it. This sums up everything that's wrong with Amazon. Two totally different items lumped into the one description.

Nice one from the 80s
Nothing wrong with these one - a good buy.The only thing I would say about the track listing is that:2. The Safety Dance (4:36)14. The Safety Dance (Video Version) (2:45)15. The Safety Dance (Club Mix) (5:50)Would be better listed as:2: The Safety Dance (12"version) (4:36)14. The Safety Dance (7" version) (2.45)15. The Safety Dance (Club Mix) (5.50)Track 15 has a much longer slow intro than the original 12" mix which is track 2.
