Works just the way it should
Before I bought this arm, I used a very similar one I got off eBay that cost about the same price. The movement on that arm was rigid - too much friction and metal grinding against metal in the ball joints. That one broke several times (having to put it back together took 30 minutes of meticulous work trying to force the tiny pieces back into alignment) and wasn't reliable enough for any practical use in the field.I had my doubts about buying another articulating arm at this price, but the reviews on this one seemed pretty good, and they were right. This arm is just the opposite of the other one I had - nice smooth movement, works just the way it should. I highly recommend this one. Holds up my 7" monitor and battery with no issues whatsoever. My only advice to people is to make sure that you use a strong attachment point to your rig - I use a 1/4" attachment point that's joined across both rails so that it wouldn't rotate, with a little bit of threadlock to prevent it from loosening.

I know there is use for this thing one way or another!
I gave this only 3 stars not for lack of functionality, but rather because I don't ever use it. I guess I thought I needed something I didn't need, or maybe I will find it useful in the future if I can even find it! I'm sure it does the job well, and writing this review might actually spark the desire to look for it and put it to use for sake of the fact that I paid for it. Although it may be impractical to use with some cameras in certain situations such as a DSLR mounted to a fly cam which is already difficult to balance without the weight of awkwardly placed accessories, maybe I'll be surprised to find it useful somewhere. I know there is use for this thing one way or another! Just make sure it's what you need before you buy it. I don't remember this being nearly $40.00. and I wouldn't pay more than $10 or 15.

Strong, inexpensive and fast
Love these magic arms. Single knob unlocks both ball ends and the knuckle in the middle. The knuckle has serrated teeth that interlock when the knob is tightened. This assures the arm will not sag. Both ball ends have 1/4-20 threaded ends. The hot shoe adapter is fine. These are well made units and handy for holding small video monitors, GoPro cameras (if you buy the GoPro 1/4-20 tripod adapter) or other accessories.I use one to hold an iPhone on top of the Nikon D800 lens while it's running the Teleprompter+ app. Works like a charm. You'd swear the talent is looking right into the lens. The magic arm attaches securely to the camera's hot shoe and the other end holds a spring loaded iPhone holder normally used in a car. Some simple adapting and I have a super portable teleprompter that the talent can read from 6-7 feet indoors or out.

works great, but take care of it
This friction arm works just like every $100 and $200 one. The only difference is the teeth between the ball joint. Usually this space is smooth but this arm has teeth. You must be careful to adjust the arm so the teeth line up and create a solid lock. I can understand people using this arm a few times and wearing down the teeth making the connection weak. I currently use this arm to hold my 7" lilliput monitor and they are a great combo.I shoot on a Sony NEX FS100

Not too shabby
Of course there is a vast sea of options for these kinds of friction arms and "Israeli" arms, etc... This one was cheap and had decent reviews so I bought it. Comes with a camera cold shoe mount which is handy if you are still using a DSLR for video like I am. But if not, it has a 1/4 20 as well. It's all pretty standard, but so far it's been a champ, so no complaints. Just don't expect it to hold every damn thing.

Cheap but worthy
Between NOGA and MAGIC brand arms of similar design you will drop 5 times the money that you will on this thing. Are they of better quality ...yes. But I've been using this particular arm to hold a 7" Marshall on top of my 7D the past couple months and so far so good! A huge bonus is that it comes with a threaded hot shoe mount that alone is worth the price.

EXCELLENT PRODUCT FOR THE MONEY
Totally agree with the 2 earlier feedback. I needed an articulating arm to mount my 7" LCD monitor to my Sony VG10 and this $24 item solves my problem of where and how to mount it. I'm still looking for adapters to mount this arm on the rods itself and not the coldshoe for fear of tearing off the latter. It really locks in place when you tighten the knob which is what's important here especially when you have your equipment shoulder mounted and moving. I'm particularly impressed with its solid metal built, something I did not really expect for a measly $24.There's nothing negative I can say about it. I'd recommend this product to anyone that just purchased a video monitor....an absolute must!

A little cheap but it does the job
You really can't complain about anything for this price. It feels a lot better constructed than the price would suggest and it does exactly what it needs to so I can't complain. You can tell a few corners were cut when you handle it but not so much that it feels like it's poorly constructed or untrustworthy. Great bargain item.

Doesn't support 10lbs, and wasn't even made by Kamerar!
So I bought this after hearing great things about the Kamerar magic arm, but the one I recieved was a completely different brand, and did not support even 3lbs,Am waiting for the reply back from the sellers to return it.

Made in USA bestellt ... Made in CHINA erhalten
No Name" - Made in China erhalten.

FMA-Magic-Arm
Hier habe ich wohl etwas nicht bedacht, der Arm war für meine Erfordernisse etwas zu klein, ich habe dummerweise die Maße nicht in der Beschreibung gelesen.ansonsten ist das ein sehr stabiles Gerät.
