It's all about expectations.
I was looking for a multi-function semi-emergency device that didn't cost too much, dynamo powered, light/radio to take camping and keep for blackouts; not something to take on an epic journey through the arctic tundra or roll down some cliff somewhere. That being said I'm very satisfied with the buy. All functions working well, and isn't as fragile as I'd thought (don't get me wrong though it's still just plastic)Pros:Compact and lightweightdynamo powered so no batteries needed (though the option is there)several useful functions (namely radio and reading light)Effective siren (by effective I mean it's alarming/annoying, and somewhere between a beep/buzz/kazoo sound)Phone charger worked well enough, though you have to continue cranking to maintain phone charging state.Cons:Not the strongest built (though with a bit of care it should last a good long time)The crank is almost too easy to turn (that being said, instructions say intended winding speed is something like 180 rotations per minute, or around 3 rounds per second, so fast is good I suppose) and doesn't stay in place very well.Antennae model was shortened at some point, and the new model doesn't reach the other end of the holder (can be extended to fit of course)Conclusion:A great deal for the price, just remember your getting a multi-function device for camping and semi-emergency use (power outages, or weather warnings for instance), and that's just what you get. Use it well, and don't abuse it (too much) and you'll enjoy the heck out of it. Recommended.

Great for the price
Great little radio. I live in tornado alley and have had to use it several times. You can follow the exact path of a tornado by location, speed and debris field. The siren is LOUD and flashlight andThis is a super little radio. Works great. I live in tornado alley and have had to use it several times. You can follow the exact path of the tornado by location, speed, and debris field. The siren is LOUD and flashlight and LEDs are great when electricity is out. For the price, you can't beat it. It is lightweight, easily portable if you are camping. We use it with the solar charger anytime we are out on the lake and radio works very well. I always keep batteries in it just for extra preparedness but the rechargeable battery works fine.

GET THIS FOR THE RADIO NOT THE CELLPHONE CHARGER
My electricity was off for 6 days after a bad storm. I was surfing AMAZON for a boombox when I came across this. I'm soooooo glad I bought this radio. You can wind it up or set it out in the sun for it to work. While everyone else was scrambling for batteries and ways to power their cell phones, radios, flashlights, etc. I had this beauty. I was never in the dark (the light is super bright), had a power source to charge my cell phone so I wasn't without internet or entertainment, and I had a radio with the weather station readily available. Folks, it doesn't get any better than this. You need this. Technology isn't all it's cracked up to be. Trust me. Get this radio!Update: Oh boy. I wish I'd tried all features to this radio before I wrote the first review. Everything works well as stated except the cellphone charger. I cranked and cranked, and cranked until I thought my arm would fall off and sorry, it didn't even give me one bar on my cellphone. Everything else works just as stated except that one feature. Talk about exhausted, frustrated, irritated, and ready to toss it out of the window...whew! If you're looking for a cellphone charger that is solar powered, don't get this one. I had to order one of those gadgets off of television and that works wonderfully for charging my cellphone to not just one bar but a FULL CHARGE. I have a 3g android.UPDATE: Dropped the radio outside on the cement. The solar thing cracked and broke but it still works. The radio knob has to played with a bit but it still works. The flashlight still works. I was angry about the cellphone charger but the thing takes a beating and keeps working. It feels cheaply assembled and after I dropped it I thought for sure it was a goner but nope, still working.

Cheap Plastic
Seems like an awesome product. But the whole thing is cheaply made and cheap plastic feel. Even the crank is cheap. If I never drop it and never let my kids ever near it...it seems like an amazing product. Further...shouldn't an EMERGENCY product be durable? This is not. Lastly...the USB port is not a port on the device. It's a round plug on the product that you have to plug in a (supplied) adapter to make it usb. It's so small of an adapter it'll get lost in an emergency. Then again...it's like $20. It couldn't charge my cell phone. And the thermometer didn't work. SO...TWO PROBLEMS. No cell charging and no thermometer. And I bought two of these and BOTH had the same problem. Send them back to china!

Not too bad.
I just recieved it today. This is the first radio like this that I have bought. After reading, this is the one I found with the best reviews.I haven't read the user guide yet, I didn't have time. I feel like that is the best place to sart but I'm posting my thoughts at first glance. I cranked it about 50 times just to check it out. So far it works pretty well. It is made out of plastic. I am not sure the grade of the plastic but I've read that if you crank it too roughly that it can break. The light is not too bad at all. Both lights light up pretty well. I will test them in the dark as soon as I can. I will post more as I inspect the radio more and read the user guide.(10/3/2015)I reall like this radio and would rate it higher if I can figure out how/if it can charge my phone. I may have to crank the radio more than I have. The radio has a chart that states how long to crank it for different devices. I tried to see if my phone would show that it was charging but it didn't even do that.
