Seth Dahl's book is hands-down the best parenting book I have read
Seth Dahl's book is hands-down the best parenting book I have read... and I've read a lot in my nearly 30 years of raising kids. I have a few stellar favorites, but this one by Seth and Lauren Dahl distills most of the wisdom we've read and learned into a very readably-sized book that will now be our go-to gift for new parents. GREAT stuff in here! (NOTE: I've already given away four copies... it's THAT good.)

How to parent and actually enjoy it!
Margaret Cousins:Pros: As a mother of 4 adult children and a children's minister for over 24 years, I would highly recommend this book to any parent or couple looking to parent. The wisdom in this book had me actually agreeing out loud and sharing with whoever was within the room with me. One outstanding point Seth and his wife Lauren made was about how our children are arrows from Psalms 127 and how as parents we are the major craftsmen - others will have a hand- but the majority of the responsibility is ours. LOVED the way they explained this verse. Another part was how to understand your child. They provided such great, practical examples of how to communicate understanding to even the youngest of children. As a counselor and minister one of the biggest wounds I have seen that people suffer is when they don't feel understood. For them to give this as an easily usable tool to parents is invaluable not only to the children but for the parents as well. As your children grow older we will need them to understand us just as much as they need to feel understood. This book is going into my library of must reads for any parent struggling with how to effectively parent with joy, and peace.Cons: In order to let the reader know who was the author of each sections they would write in third person, for me this broke the flow of reading. This really was the only negative and really is worth it for the nuggets and gems they provide. Overall this is a parenting book EVERY parent should read!

Great book about intentional parenting!
This book is easy to read, has great personal examples to learn from, and most importantly it equips and empowers me to be intentional in my parenting. There's so many ways that Kingdom values can be cultivated from an early age, not just by reading bible stories at night but through everyday life as well. Topics include habits and routines that pass on values, our mindset and role as parents, training for character and caring for our children's hearts and so much more. It challenges me to look at the values I'm prioritizing in our family. This book is about our growth too. As our children grow and mature we need to adjust our parenting tools and teaching these values holds me accountable in how I live my own life. Thank you Seth and Lauren for your hearts - for your sharing your personal examples, challenges, and encouragement!

Practical ideas with a focus on values that build healthy family
A really helpful book on parenting that goes deep. Win+Win not only gives us practical parenting tools that help but also focuses on values that create and build a healthy family dynamic. I’m looking forward to implementing the wisdom in this book to help my boys thrive and grow:)

Great perspective shift, not a parenting class replacement
I loved that they talk about giving very young children managable responsibilities as part of their daily schedule. They advise to be gentle and patient while the child learns to do the chore, staying engaged with them so that they dont just learn to check things off their list, but to do tasks thouroughly and thoughtfully. I remember being 5 years old and begging my mom to let me do the dishes and laundry. I think it’s healthy to entrust a child with a necessary task to build their confidence and give them a semse of family working together to make a house a home. It was cool to see very practical things put into spiritual context. They made it clear that everytime we connect with our kids and do something that we think is good for them, it is a wide open opportunity for God to do great and lasting things in their lives. I gave this book a 4 instead of 5 just because i think people should be aware that this is not the type of parenting book that will give you step-by-step tools to navigate parenting without spanking and punishment. They do talk about creative ways to discipline, but in my opinion, it is no replacement for a starter class of parenting by connection. To go from punishment as a main focus to keep your kids from going down the wrong path, to using listening, playing, setting limits, and getting an adult who can listen to your own parenting struggles regularly - it takes a lot of time and effort. The shift from one parenting style to another is hard work. It requires a lot of support and practice. This book was an easy read. Its something that i will keep handy to refer back to for inspiration and refreshing. My favorite thing about it is how God is ready to be involved in our parenting and our kid’s lives through the simple, ordinary, day to day things we choose to do.

Practical and essential for every parent.
I found this book thanks to recommendations by our former children's minister, who is a huge Dahl fan, and the Stumvoll's (Abi & Justin.) We didn't know what to expect, and so when I got the book I dug right in. For our family, we have used Danny Silk's Keep Your Love On to incorporate having good relationships for a few years. Danny is one of many respected authors and speakers who endorse this book. What he says about it being a tool that every parent can use with KYLO is so right. This is the set of tools that we needed in addition to what we were using. We are taking it slow with this book and have been implementing Chapter 1 for 2 weeks and we have seen great fruit with it! It's a win for us and I believe our kids will see the win as they grow up and then as parents one day in hindsight. What an excellent and practical book. Every parent should have a copy!

full of easy takeaways. Most parent books speak from a 30
Seth and Lauren have nailed it. They wrote a book that’s insightful, challenging, personal and most importantly, full of easy takeaways. Most parent books speak from a 30,000 foot view and share awesome ideas and results. That’s not all that bad, but it’s also rarely helpful from a practical standpoint. You still get the big ideas and goals in this book, but you get easy next step ideas as well as a glimpse into how messy and frustrating it can be to be a parent. This book is easy to read and easy to implement!
