Franklin TES-121 Spanish-English Phrasebook & Translator

I bought this hoping it would be handier than the pocket dictionary I usually carry. I am just back from a month in El Salvador and I found it to be absolutely useless. First, the on-off button broke almost immediately, it still worked, but not well. Second, it did not serve its intended purpose. Perhaps I know too much Spanish to benefit from this (but my Spanish is barely competent), but almost every time I wanted a word, it would come up with answers I knew to be incorrect. When I would try to look up a Spanish word I didn't know, it didn't know either either. I would be looking directly at the Spanish word, type it correctly, at it wouldn't know it. I thought it would be quicker than my pocket dictionary, but it was slower. In the end, I used my pocket dictionary almost every day and this sat in my bedroom absolutely unused. Because of the broken on-off switch, I will ask for a refund - and then replace my pocket dictionary (which I gave to a student learning English). My pocket dictionary was in a $1 bin at a grocery store and a much better buy!

The translator is relatively easy to use if you learn the basics.I will use it more frequently in 2-3 weeks, but right now I think it is a very handy instrument, for those who want to travel light and just need some help on the road.Thanks!

This is a very good simple translator. Very easy to use and useful for those who are learning a foreign language. My mother wanted a translator useful and at the same time easy to use and this product has the perfect combination. Besides the price is unbeatable. I highly recommend this product to someone who wants to be able to communicate either in English or in Spanish.

The User's Guide was one sheet Xeroxed, which was difficult to read. The first instruction was to remove the battery insulation tab; however there was no tab.The instructions stated that a complete list of the World Cities and there abbreviations were at the end of the Guide, but they were missing. The price was good. The function keys take some getting used to and are not designed for speed.

i have bought en some translator in the past yes they looked easy to used then it turned out that they start getting mes up or the battery died but not this one this translator is so easy to use and it very clearly to understand thank you

This is an excellent product. We have ordered two. It is just right for my older husband to be able to manipulate. Estudiante en Espanol.

For less than 12 dollars I really didn't expect much from this product, but the Franklin TES-121 is terrible. The instructions are nothing more than a blurry photo copy. Once I figured out how to use the translator I quickly found out that it has an extremely limited vocabulary. To translate a Spanish verb to English the verb must be entered in the infinitive form, and there are a lot of verbs that the Franklin TES-121 is not able to conjugate. Also it only recognizes the masculine form of adjectives. I was very disappointed in this product and would not recommend it to anyone.
