The Atlantis Complex
Forbidden love, out of control robots, out of control wrestling brawl, underwater exploration, giant squid, and a mysterious mind shattering mental illness are just some of the things you can expect in the seventh installment of the Artemis Fowl series, The Atlantis Complex. This book comes from the award winning Irish writer Eion Colfer. He has many many awards for his books including: Irish Book of the Decade, Bistro Book of the Year Award, Irish World Literature Award, British Book Awards Children's Book of the Year, and many others. Personally, I felt like this installment had a little bit of a different feel than the others. It's an extremely good book, just different than the others. That being said there are some things that have stayed the same, like the humor Artemis Fowl lovers have come to enjoy. If you haven't ever read an Artemis Fowl book before let me give you a taste, "It was an old hard back that his father often chose as a bedtime tale, entitled The Crock of Gold, which told the story of a greedy bucko who capture a leprechaun in a vain effort to steal the creature's gold. When father had finished reading the last word on the page, which was Fin, he would close the worn leather-bound cover, smile down at his son, and say, "That boy had the right idea. A little more planning and he would have pulled it off." In The Atlantic Complex Artemis has to face his toughest enemy yet...himself. Can he overcome the Atlantis Complex? Can he reclaim his body from the mysterious Orion? And what will become of Atlantis? Go pick up the Atlantis Complex today and find out! This book is perfect for anyone in middle school or up. I even read it in college! If you like Eion Colfer's writing you may also like the Supernaturalist. If your looking for something similar try The Bartimaeus Trilogy by Jonathan Stroud or The Keys to the Kingdom series by Garth Nix.

a longer short story
A great villain, Artemis suffering from a complex that threatens to take him over, the Butlers in danger and everything just seems off. The pacing, the length of backgrounds being given all just seems rushed.

Artemis Gone Mad...
This series must be read in order. The first book is "Artemis Fowl". The second book is "The Arctic Incident". The third book is "Eternity Code". The fourth book is "The Opal Deception". The fifth book is "The Lost Colony". The sixth book is "The Time Paradox". This is the seventh book. I can't wait to read "The Last Guardian"!Artemis is slowly losing his grip on reality. The number four is death. He trusts no one. Not even Butler. But he will make up for all the bad he did by saving the world. No one can stop him. Can he hold it together enough to make his presentation? What will the fairies think of his idea? Is his decent into madness reversible?

A Fantastic Series
I am a BIG book worm and wanted to try something different because I am also a big Harry Potter fan. I really would suggest this book if you enjoy fantasy, action, hi- tech, adventure, and Harry Potter. I would suggest this book because of the detail and depth of the books. I also enjoy that the author has books other than Artemis Fowl, such as “The Fowl Twins.” I also enjoy the plot twists, the excitement, and the adventure.

Good for a 12 year old
My son is 12 and he likes these books. I've never read them, but I give them a 5 star rating because they occupy him and aren't on a computer screen! Of course if you buy the E-book version they ARE on a computer screen so maybe I should find that version and give it one star. Too many screens! Go outside and throw a ball for god's sake!!!

Digital pricing is tough to swallow for such a dark and short book
I will amend this review once I have completed the book. However, at this time I would just like to note that paying $2.22 more for the digital kindle version than for the hard back version of this novel just really irks me to no end...or, more precisely, irks me to the point that I voice my complaint with the only customer feedback tool I have available to me: an Amazon review. That said, the digital version has missing words, poorly formatted paragraphs and mis-coded punctuation. All of this I can tolerate because I feel like I'm doing a good deed for Mother Earth, getting the product immediately, and avoiding the cost of shipping. Of course, the hardback ships for free using Amazon Prime but when I calculate the carbon footprint necessary to ship a 2 lb book all the way to North Africa, I just can't bring myself to save the money. At the same time, paying a two dollar premium for a crappier version of the real book is just incredibly irritating.11/19/2011As promised, I am amending this review to reflect an assessment of the novel itself. This is a novel somewhat darker than the previous ones offered in the series. I think Mr. Colfer was reaching for a particular mood (or perhaps even a shift in the tone of the series moving forward) that is somewhat more adult and mature. Artemis' problems reflect the end of his adolescence. As his struggles (while still identifiably Colfer in their zaniness), grow more serious, so does the tone of the narrative.I wanted to pan this novel as being too great a departure from what made this young adult series so appealing. I wanted to accuse Mr. Colfer of "just mailing it in," but I've realized that the change in tone and the violence reflected in the story are intentional. I can't fault the author for going where his characters take him. Although I think many fans will find this novel somewhat unsettling, it is still a worthy read and I look forward to catching the next installment. I just won't be reading this one to my six year old.My criticism of the kindle version remains in place and is the primary reason for the low rank. If a book is the sum of the narrative and presentation then a perfectly fine narrative was disrupted by sloppy editing and terrible formatting. The ebook is a legitimate format that is here to stay. The big publishing houses have absolutely no excuse for doing such a terrible job formatting and then charging such a high price premium. Shame on them.

The Atlantis Complex
Because I`m not a young person I`d never happen to read any book of the Artemis Fowl series. But because I`m addicted to Nathaniel Parker`s voice and reading I have purchased every audiobook of this series and listened to them all several times and really enjoyed them. Maybe it`s mostly because of his marvellous voice and incredibly talented way of doing all the different characters. But I`m also really fascinated for the charming and exciting story of fairies, pixies, dwarfs, goblins and the young criminal mastermind Artemis Fowl and his family and friends.Lucky me as I got acquainted with this lovely series by Eoin Colfer. The Atlantis Complex is number seven and by now the latest of the series but I hope it`s not the last. What a pity if he`s not going to write any further volumes for it ( for Nathaniel Parker to read! ).

... this series when I was 10/11 and I really enjoyed reading about the boy genius/semi-evil mastermind
I started reading this series when I was 10/11 and I really enjoyed reading about the boy genius/semi-evil mastermind. I guess you could say we grew up together. I read books 1-6 pretty much as soon as they came out, enjoying Artemis' adventures. I'm now 25, and my tastes have changed quite a bit, which means Artemis is now a good 10 years younger than me and I don't enjoy his adventures as much. I'm glad that all the gang returned for the story and all. I do feel a need to finish the series and I do own the eighth and last book in the series, so I will finish it at some point but it won't be my next read.

Would recommend
Our son (10 years) loves Artemis Fowl series. He thought this one was good (possibly not the best though!). The part when Artemis and his friends got captured was nerve racking and, overall, the book was thrilling read.

Artemis Fowl Books
I love the Artemis Fowl series, Thay're so well written andthe storyline pulls you into the characters so you feel like your almost there with them. Totally engrossing! what a shame that the series will end with the Last Guardian. It's a series i will keep and read over and over again. Thank you Eoin Colfer for this hilarious fantasy, it makes me smile every time i read them. And a smile is better than a bucketfull of medicines.

Artemis fowl and the Atlantis complex
This book is amazing, is one of my favourite books yet. It has a few grammar mistakes, but they are not present in the paperback edition of it, so it was not eoin colfer 's fault. Most people have written really mean reviews and they think this book is the worst out of the series, but this is one of the strongest, as many loose ends have been tied up, and a few more have been created, which is simply to make you want to read the next book! I'm only 12 but I'm the only one who really appreciated this book out of all the people who wrote reviews.
