Essential reading and reference for Xenites everywhere!
This book, although expensive second hand, I would highly recommend. Above all, it directed me to http://www.whoosh.org/ which has ALL the gen any Xenite could wish for! The site cannot be Googled easily and is EPIC

If you are a Xena fan
Perfect accompaniment to the complete series on DVD. But you need to be a Xena fan first. Not recommended for people not in love with Lucy Lawless.

My review of X W P: Complete Illustrated Companion
I started reading this book the minute i received it. Although it didn't have as many colour pictures as the xenaverse guide before it, i thought it was well presented and well thought out. I was happy that it didn't focus as much on the start of Xena as the last book had. A vital and necessary book and guide for any Xena Fan. I give 5/5 top marks!

Definitive guide to Xena?
There are some hesitant approvals of this book in Amazon, but I would urge any reader who enjoys watching Xena to get this title. I bought it more as a reference work than something to sit down and enjoy and for that purpose it is ideal. As mentioned in other reviews, the other book to get for the keen Xena fan is Xena : Warrior Princess - the official guide to the Xenaverse by Robert Weisbrot, which covers in some detail the origins and first two seasons of the program. The Complete Illustrated Companion has more to offer in that it examines all six seasons and contains all you would need to know about each episode - writer, director, guest stars, original air date, a two paragraph synopsis of the storyline and even the 'disclaimers' in the end credits. The first half of the book is an episode guide and and essay on the six seasons looking at the structure of the individual seasons, changes in the production team and so on. All of this is underpinned by comments from production team members such as producer Rob Tapert, writer R.J. Stewart and others (this is an authorised publication after all). The second half of the book takes a look at the main characters in the series with some insights provided by some of the cast, and an all too brief 'behind the scenes' section looking at areas of production such as stunts, effects and costumes. The B&W photos are plentiful and more than adequate. To populate a book of this sort with colour photos would make the price unaffordable I should think. For those seeking a deeper examination of the series in print form I'd point you toward the issues of Spectrum magazine which offers opinions on the strengths and weaknesses of each episode over several (irregular) issues. As an examination of XWP this book is the best we will be given and it does not disappoint, though it does leave you wanting more - which might say more about the strength of the series than weaknesses in the book. Highly recommended.
