Miracle Cooling Vest Really Works !!
Buy this vest for your dog! Recently moved into a house with no AC. Spring weather was hot. Summer was unbearable. I needed a fast temporary solution to keep dog confortable until we could add more power to house for central AC and/or find a way to install a window AC unit with support boards. This vest truly works as promised. Before the vest, my dog was always hot & I had to keep wetting her down with cold water on her chest + stuffing ice packs under her bed. FYI the chest is the best & most effective place to cool a dog... but that was getting annoying & she couldn't be left alone for very long. I tried the cooling gel beds but they just got hot after a while. Within minutes of putting this vest on my dog, she stopped panting. She was happy! My dog wore this vest indoors & outside but she spends most of her time in the house. When the thermometer read 108degrees F, feels like 113degrees F, my pup was walking around & energetic. Meanwhile I was sweating like crazy! The manufacturer claims this vest can make the pet feel up to 50degrees cooler and I absolutely believe that that be the case. I wish they made this into shirts/shorts/pants for humans! My 1st complaint is this vest will not fit most big or large dogs. My dog is a 55lb Border Collie + Black Lab mixed breed. She is skinny & long & lean with a slightly deep chest (she kind of looks like a greyhound/whippet). The L was so tight on her the leg seams started to split as soon as it was on her (wet) and she tried to sit down. And the neck was far too tight to be comfortable and the velcro fastener was pulling apart. She usually wears a M collar + has a medium rain slicker/poncho. I was shocked the L didn't fit. Next I ordered the biggest size available XXL and it fits under her legs but is a little loose on her stomach & neck. Loose is better than too tight, especially because as the vest dries it gets extremely stiff as a board. When temps were over 100 degrees F, indoors the vest stays cool/wet/flexible for up to 6 hours. When the temperature is 85-95 degrees F, in the house the vest can stay cool/flexible for up to 8hrs. We had a bad heatwave with temps over 100 for 2weeks & my dog wore her vest all day + night. My 2nd complaint is more of a warning. It develops a bad odor. Funk nasty! After 2weeks suddenly this thing reeked of used tennis shoes, sweaty feet, and an old leather chamois. Nothing I tried has gotten the funky smell out. I washed it with dish soap, natural lavender soap, natural GSE soap, Tide laundry soap, nothing worked. I have since started spraying it with a silver spray (Sovereign Silver brand) since that's antimicrobial. I wish the manufactured would make this vest infused with some silver strands/thread to keep the odor away. Good news is the smell is worse when it is dry. More good news is that even if the vest smells like road kill your dog won't. 2weeks straight of using it & there was zero issue for my dog & her skin/hair. I was worried about mildew or fungus but no problem. Just be aware the vest will develop a terrible smell. But it works so I mostly ignore it & keep it wet to reduce odor.If your dog is bigger than mine, I suggest ordering the XXL and trying it on your pooch. If the velcro can be fastened but it's too tight & restricts movement-- you might be able to snip the fabric around the leg holes to make it more comfortable. Making these minor alterations to the vest could probably work for a Labrador, Doodle, Pitbull, Sheepdog, Spaniel sized dogs if they are 55-85lbs. I think much larger or giant breeds have no hope of fitting into an XXL. Perhaps you could order 2 & somehow sew them together? Setiously this vest is a miracle! I hope the manufacturer will make larger sizes for bigger dogs. They deserve to be cool & comfortable too.

Godsend
One of my dogs has a brain tumor that affects his ability to regulate his body temperature and his temp runs high. This vest has been a godsend in its ability to help keep him cool. As another review stated, it does smell awful after several wears but a quick soak in some white vinegar and dish soap takes care of that temporarily.

99° Texas heat was NO match for this cooling vest!
Spent an entire day (10am - 5 pm) in the Texas heat with this vest under his harness. He didn't pant ONCE while wearing this cooling vest! Works like a charm! I was able to get it wet before use and it stayed damp until we put it on. Used a water bottle to keep the vest moist a few times during the day. My dog seemed to like the fabric and velcro and he didn't fuss about putting it on while it was damp. I definitely do not regret this purchase!* [Purchased an Xtra small for my 4 pound chihuahua] *

Collapsed Trachea Yorkie in hot South Texas
This has been a miracle for my Yorkie who has a semi collapsed trachea and therefore cannot cool herself efficiently. Especially with the South Texas summer heat and she even gets to panting sometimes in the house and I just wet it (sometimes put in fridge for 10 minutes) and put it on her and soon enough she cools down and stops panting. Great product for any dog exercising or that needs to cool down quickly!

Mixed review.
I have mixed feelings about this vest. It boasts "ice cooling" which made me think that it had the ability to be frozen for long lasting cooling but that's not the case at all. It does cool very effectively though. I use this vest on my Akita service dog under her heavy harness in the summer and it does wonders keeping her cool. However you do have to wet it quite often which is rather inconvenient when you're on the go. Curie seems comfortable in the jacket but it seems to run big as the appropriate size is fairly gaping on her. Overall I would NOT recommend this harness for anyone looking for long term cooling or working dogs but it would work well for pets for short walks or playing in the yard.

for a Cool dog
I have a black and silver mini schnauzer that likes to be out gardening with me. That black fur really soaks up the sun. I had no idea a vest like this was available, but it sounded like a good thing. It does keep here so much cooler--even to the touch, and she seems more energetic outside. I want one for me. The only thing I would change is the Velcro on the back. There is a lot of it. The noise of separating hook and loop sides when I removed it sort of freaked her out at first. But now I just don't overlap it too far and there's less noise

They don't like the sun beating in on them and this will ...
This is for my Shih Tzu's. I purchased one for each of them for when we are riding in the car. They don't like the sun beating in on them and this will keep them comfortable in addition to the A/C. I also believe this will come in handy at home if the power goes off during one of the many summer heat waves. I always have bottled water on hand to wet the jackets to activate the cooling feeling.

It works! I live in the desert, very hot summers. Was able to walk my little guy at night after the ground cooled, and he wasn't panting at all.

Not just dogs
I got one for my cat as she isn't one that like the sun in sunny warm days. She more of a cat that like the cold weather as she likes to be out on the balcony in cold weather in the middle of winter, like -2c.. In the summer time when it hot she's always under my bed; probably more so as I've put a cooling mat under there as well. To get her for under there I got her the cooling vest. It was a little hard to put it on her the first time, but not so much after that. The first one that I got for her I thought was her perfect size, but it was a little too small and could sort of wiggle her way out of it when it wasn't so cool. All in all she likes to wear it.
