The F6F Hellcat was a Grumman designed and manufactured naval fighter in the 1940's that has served mainly with the United States Navy and the United States Marine Corps. As a naval fighter, the Hellcat was a carrier-based aircraft during World War II, and was a conceived to replace its predecessor, the F4F Wildcat. The Cat O' Nine was an effective fighter during World War II, accounting for about 75% of the US Navy's victory in the Pacific theater. By 1944, the Hellcat was equipped with radar for the night attack squadrons.
