SO Confused
The only reason I can see so far that it's 18+ are the MANY references to rape. Raping men, sodomizing little girls, etc.. Not a huge problem for me but I was expecting sex, and a harem. I'm more than 10k locations in, I REALLY WANT TO LIKE THIS!!!! BUT HOLY CRAP, it's just been girls arguing over a boy for TEN THOUSAND LOCATIONS!!! Are you kidding me ?! Where's the harem? Heck the girls aren't even touching EACH OTHER. Oh wait no, that happened one time, by accident, and was literally THE WORST THING the girls could imagine. I feel like there's a great premise but, like, maybe if that so far had been like, a preview ? And now we'll get to the good stuff ? I have never met or read about such whiny people in my life, unless you're watching US politics. Monster girls, check. They're fun. Battles? Hm, kinda I guess. There's some fighting but not really much of a reason aside from "I WILL RAPE HIM!" "No! He's MINE!" "BUT I REALLY WANT TO RAPE HIM!" "No! That's not right ! You shouldn't rape people!" "NOPE !!! NEED TO RAPE HIM NOW!". So. Shrug. I dunno. It's a nice tale but ... honestly boring outside of the rapey bits, because it's a guy with well described fricking hot women, aaaaaand nope. He's a virgin. NO interest in sex, in kissing, in touching, in women. Nope. He's his own version of a scientist. So, except for one of the monsters that want to rape him have commented on him being hard down below, I'd have assumed he was not interested in women, maybe asexual because there's no interest in guys either. Anyway. SUPER confused as to all the other reviews. I was confused at 5k locations but thought I could just power through. The last 5k I mostly skipped because it was all repetitive nightmares :/. :(

Wow This Was Really Hard to Read...
Minor spoiler alert...OK, first of all the MC is the biggest milksop I think I have ever read about, I don't see how any girl could have become obsessed with him, much less 7.Next, this author must really love. love, love repetition, because he does it a lot especially when it comes to the nightmare sequence. I got to this part, read a couple pages, skipped a couple, read a couple skipped several read a little then skipped until it was over it was so tedious I couldn't stand it... stuff just happened over and over ad nauseam. The other thing he likes to repeat is facial expressions, I have never, and I have read literally thousands of books, seen an author so obsessed with describing facial expressions, every paragraph it seemed had a description of someones expression, usually including the word "expression" that was a major writer's crutch. I would be willing to bet the book would have been a quarter less the length, had he not described those facial expressions so unnecessarily like that (not to mention all the repetition).Last there are a lot of grammatical errors that took me out of the story, not just typos, those I can live with but poor usage and wrong words, such as:"the gentleman thing to do". no it's the gentlemanly thing to do."lying on her legs" how is this even physically possible? He calls the caravan a ride repeatedly... does he not know the word wagon, or van or varga? No one who would be around during an era when horse and wagon travel were common would call it a ride.He calls a bench a pew... it's only a pew if there are several together. He calls a whip a flail. a flail and a whip are two separate and distinct things. He uses the term "bud out" ... The term is "butt out"."With" and "like" are prepositions they need an object. It's " Do you want to come with me?", not " Do you want do come with?" or " Do you like it?", not " Do you like".All in all this book left a lot to be desired.

Great series!
Do you like Monster Girls? Do you like Romance? Do you like an Action-Fantasy romp with lots of magic? Do you like Harem Anime but wish the hero would man up? And do you like your Fantasy rated R for violence and sexual content? If you answered "Yes!" to all those questions, then welcome to the Chronicles of Eden! You owe it to yourself to buy this book.I haven't found anything else like this out there (if you have, please let me know) and thoroughly enjoyed each book in the series. Also, kudos to Mr. Gordon for listening to criticism and tweaking the early novels.Spoiler Corner[The Chronicles of Eden is an epic fantasy in scale and scope. When writing a story that gets to the highs found in the later entries, it's important to ground the series in humble beginnings. We start out with two human characters in the first book, and only add two monster girls to the party by the end of it while teasing a third. However, each of these characters slowly grows and changes over the course of the novel, and each of them undergoes a huge transformation of attitude and beliefs throughout the series. While things appear simple at first, these are Daniel's core girls who will gradually come to embody the key themes of the story: love and acceptance.Which is not to say it's all sunshine and rainbows. From early on you can feel a darker tone lurking beneath the happy, slapstick veneer. A few humans are killed in especially brutal ways before the book is even a quarter through. In this world, besides the potentially friendly monster girls, there are true monsters that rape, eat, and kill innocent people. Things occasionally get a little graphic, especially in later entries. As I said at the beginning, I would rate this at least an R.While I was surprised CoE was willing to tackle such heavy topics practically from the beginning, I was pleased to see how Mr. Gordon had thought out how his premise would affect the setting. Monster girls need men to reproduce, but hate, prejudice, and a history of violence has created a world where each species is practically on the verge of war with each other. Human women protect their men from monsters which can charm them with magic or lure them with pheromones. You can tell from the opening pages this world needs saving, not by some all-powerful hero, but by someone willing to see past what blinds others and talk to those who don't want to listen.]

Unreadable trite disappointing
Amazon tells me I read nearly 300 books in the last 12 months. This scores last of those, by a considerable margin. I'm that guy that reads every book cover to cover. I couldn't make it through 10% of this 50 shades level writing.

A very developed world
The author has done an excellent job at creating and visualising the world of Eden. You won't be disappointed by what the world has to offer, nor will you need help trying to visualise scenes as the author goes pretty in-depth with the environment.I read the first three acts before deciding to review to see if it was worth the money, and I'm glad to say that it very much is.It reads like a light novel, there's no denying that. But Alexander Gordon has done a very good job at world building. From the description of individual monster classes to the cities and lands the characters have to traverse through. And that's impressive in itself. The only reason I am giving this 4 stars instead of 5 is due to the fact that the bickering between characters can get quite repetitive and annoying to read at times, and you can't help but notice the author's partial favouritism of the words 'wonder' and 'curious'. The proof reading could also be better at times. However, the story and my curiosity to know more has me hooked on these books. They are a fun read and I will definitely be keeping up with them. The author has a DeviantArt page where you can find some top quality character sheets and artwork for the series, and I would definitely recommend checking them out.
