Mermaid Swim Tail by ShimmertailAS SEEN ON TV

I bought this for my daughter in June 2016. She wore it many many times last year. I was surprised how well it held up. When I first saw the material and how it was stitched around the monofin, I had my doubt about how durable this tail was. Well, it last all summer last year. So, now it is 2017 and she has worn the tail about 8-10 times since summer vacation began and it still looks great.I saw the prices for Shimmertail yesterday and couldn't believe how low the prices had dropped!! Is this a mistake?? If so, I took advantage of it and ordered a new tail to have a back up one just in case.My kid looooooooves her Shimmertail. I will say that we do take very good care of our tail. She was six last summer and I helped her put on her tail every single time and lowered her into the pool. This year, she requests for my assistance still and I gladly provide it and because of this I think there's less wear and tear on the tail.Thanks Shimmertail for making an affordable mermaid tail on the market and turning my kid into a "real" mermaid!

 I purchased the 14/16 for my tall and slender 11 year old, and while it's a little loose, it fits pretty well. She just pulls it higher up her abdomen.It took a little bit, but now she's gotten the hang of swimming with the tail, but the plastic monofin (which is quite thin and flimsy) has begun to protrude out of the bottom hole in the tail. I think this is because the material has stretched a bit after being used 4-6 times. Also, she's remarked that the foot straps seemed to have stretched out.The material is very pretty, but the area around the fin was pilly and faded after just a few uses. I assume this was from coming in contact with the pool bottom.Overall, this was a good purchase for the price and my daughter has really enjoyed it. I would NOT pay anywhere close to the retail prices on the ShimmerTail website, but for less than $25, I'm pleased.

I've only had it for a few days, but I've tried it out a couple of times and it's super fun! I wanted to review it because I ordered the adult size for MYSELF! I usually wear about a size 12, so I was nervous that the tail wouldn't fit, but it did. It was even a little loose! I was a college swimmer and I coach high school swimming now. Several of my swimmers played with it and I tried it out, too. You can definitely swim in it, but it's going to take some strong abs and knowing how to dolphin kick/swim like a mermaid. The monofin at the bottom is fairly flimsy, but it's fine for just playing around at the pool in. I was really excited to find the fin for this price. The Shimmertail sight was WAY more expensive and this wouldn't be worth that price. For the $20ish I paid, it's totally worth it, just for a few fun times.

Our girls ordered these 2 years ago for a month long holiday in Hawaii. Not only did they have endless fun, they ended up with six packs! To start out you need to put your child in a life vest and "play" with them until they get the hang of it, swimming as a mermaid is not the same as regular swimming. Since our girls are now much taller and have new favorite colors, we are ordering more and at the Amazon prices they make great gifts!

We bought this before going to Park City for the weekend. I have an 8 yr old. It works BUT.....their feet are strapped onto a piece of flimsy plastic that could probably be purchased from home depot - cut with an exacto knife and then sanded. The fin bent after 2 days of use but the BIGGER problem is that their feet are held to the plastic fin with an elastic, fabric strap that stretched out. There is no way to cinch the strap tighter now that is has stretched out. By the end of day 2, the fin would only stay on if it was inside the skirt. We took the fin out of the skirt a few times and by the end of the weekend, the end of the tail's fabric, where the tail slides in and out, had started fraying. My neighbor purchased the mono fin where the feet slide into a harder fin and the back strap that goes around the back side of their ankles is expandable/cinchable. I will spending more money to now purchase the stronger fin.

Seriously can't say enough how AMAZING this product is! It was better then expected and we are thrilled! Purchased for my 4 1/2 year old for Christmas, she does not know how to swim yet. I selected this tail after research thinking that the fin part would be light weight and easy for her to maneuver in the the bath tub or shallow water. The price point was perfect for our needs too. She will not be doing any real swimming with it at this point. She put it on and it fit perfectly and I swear she looks like a real mermaid! It was a big hit and so much fun. She even has fun just wearing around the house being a mermaid "swimming" down the hallway. Light weight and the skin is just like swimsuit material. Very happy with this purchase!

Shipped fast and was a huge hit!It’s really cool how it fits! My daughter wanted this for a long time, once she got it, of course, all her friends and basically anyone who saw it, wanted to try it!Being the ‘sharing type’, she’s let all her friends try it out! I’m amazed how it literally fit everyone so perfectly! Also, with all the ‘sharing’ and my daughter personally using it A LOT, it’s really holding up well! Clearly made well and clearly made to last!

I bought this as a surprise for my 10 year old Granddaughter. She was ecstatic to say the least. The only problem she has had is her feet slipping out of the straps inside the tail. Perhaps a pair of water shoes would help, she just hasn't tried that yet. She is not a strong swimmer and had no problem in shallow water about chest deep. It has a removable hard plastic fin which does not get in the way of allowing her to stand up.
