Championship Manager 4

I have been hooked on Championship Manager since the first release, and these latest version takes you onto the next level.Improved graphics, transfer market, media dealings etc are all good tweaks which add to the enjoyment of the game, but it is the 2D match engine which sets this version apart from previous versions.It is a brilliant concept, which really helps improve the match element of the game, allowing you really understand the strengths and too often the weaknesses of your players.Championship Manager 4 is a real challenge, and you will get months and months of enjoyment out of the game.

Nothing beats a good old retro football managent game although not the best quality because of the time it was released.

Championship Manager is the best PC football management simulator ever, but now it has moved into a whole new generation Championship Manager 4 has arrived.Championship Manager 4 builds on previous Championship Manager games, but now it has a completely rewritten match and game engine, including a 2D match view.Championship Manager 4 features a larger, improved database with over 200,000 players and staff, which allows you to manage more leagues than in previous Championship Manager games.Championship Manager also include a new 'skin' feature where by you can now personalise Championship Manager 4 to suit you.Unlike previous versions of Championship Manager, Championship Manager 4 doesn't ship with a database editor on the CD which is a little disappointing.Also unlike previous version of Championship Manager, Championship Manager 4 requires a minimum of a Pentium 3 600MHz processor, which for some people is a very big disappointment.Championship Manager 4 is a great game but unfortunately the game ships with more than 100 bugs, these however can be fixed by downloading the Enhancement Pack 1 from the SI Games website.Championship Manager 4 is truly a great game aside from the bad points, and it is vastly improved from previous versions of Championship Manager.All in all, if you have access to the internet and are able to download the Enhancement Pack 1 from the SI Games website then buy this game and enjoy all the new features it offers. If you can't download the Enhancement Pack 1 the wait until is appears on the cover of the major UK gaming magazines, and then buy the game.Championship Manager 4 gets only 4 stars due to the amount of bugs it has, and the minimum requirements are out of some peoples leagues.

After the effortless excellence of previous incarnations, this falls down a lot and carries on doing so. Repeatedly. Avoid.

A classic, bugs and all, but that's part of its retro (is 2002/03 classed as retro?) charm.
