Nicest Leather Leash I've Used in Many Years! Love This!
I am a dog behaviorist and as such, I see many leashes of all different materials, lengths, and design. I have bought other leather leashes and they are still hung on hooks by the door used only slightly. This leash is different from the other leather leashes I have bought. This leash is 5/8 of an inch in width. It's wide enough to be very strong but narrow enough to be flexible and comfortable in one's hands. Unlike the other leashes, this leash is already softening and breaking in and I have not yet used any oils or preservatives on it to encourage this process. The clasp is a stainless steel and feels strong. The leash is used on my own 18 lb shih-poo so he's not big on testing strength of leash fasteners! Again, unlike other leashes, this one is machine sewn. I am unsure if this is a waxed thread but, as a friend noted, a shoe maker would easily restitch this if it ever becomes necessary. I tend to prefer leashes that are braided to hold the snap and the handle however, because this width is narrower it would be impossibly difficult to maintain the integrity of the leather while splitting it to braid. I'll take the comfortable width over the braiding any day! There are no rivets to let loose- a very good thing. Another thing, I direct my dog by a mere flip of the leash to indicate the direction I want to go. This leather leash is pliant enough that the message goes through as nicely as with nylon or rope leashes only in a much nicer look!I used to work my own leather for fittings on saddles and bags and leather goods. This is a very good grain leather, very soft, and softening more daily. The black dye is thoroughly done and shiny- very professional and great craftsmanship.I love leather leashes on well trained dogs. They do not roughen your hands as the nylon leashes can. The only drawback to leather leashes is they are irresistibly delicious to some dogs! They taste like fine shoes! But once your dog is through his chewing stage, get yourself and your best friend this leather leash. You'll understand why leather is wonderful as soon as you try this!

Nice simple leash, made in USA
This is a nice, plain, leather leash in the hard-to-find 4’ length. The hardware is great; the leather thick but not too thick, and wide but not too wide; the stitching is meticulous and looks strong. Made in USA (Texas). I love this natural tan color, too, which will only get better looking over time. The leash came nicely boxed, which I wasn’t expecting – but it makes me feel like this company cares about the quality of their product and wants to present it well. This classic leather leash would make a nice gift for a new (or any) dog owner!

So satisfied I bought another one
i first bought this in august, loved it so much i bought another one in november.i bought the black one. length is perfect, and is very strong. i have a german shepherd that likes to pull when there are other dogs and based on my experience, i have no doubt this will hold upthe first one is for "dirty" occasions in parks or trails, and the second one is for daily walks around the neighborhoodi am seeing reviews saying this leash is not durable. i am not sure if that's because their dogs are biting the leash trying to cut it off. i can't attest to that since my dog doesnt bite at the leash.total time of ownership : 4 months

Great Leash! Made to last!!
Great quality. We are very happy with this leash. Our 55 lb golden doodle has gone through 3 Petsmart leashes that have the elastic. At $20-25 a piece I should have just bought this from the get-go. She's a strong pup and of course just a quick chew or 2 in her mouth degrades the integrity of the Kong elastic leashes. At first the leash will make the area where it is smell like a Wilsons leather store(I didnt mind it- it was kind of nice). After a week or two it goes away. Since its real leather its tight at first, but with frequent uses and actually just bending it with your hands it will loosen up.The case you receive it in is nice and shows that the company takes pride in their work.It is made in Mexico and hopefully if this leash catches on they can bring their operation to the USA and proudly make them here.

Quality leather leash that doesn't stain your clothes (in Tan)
Now that I've had this leash for a few months, it is a very attractive and comfortable leather leash that I suspect will only get more comfortable with time. Straight out of the box, the edges of leash are a straight 90 degree cut, so they can be a little harsh to hold with bare hands. Also, being new leather, it was pretty stiff. Now, after several months, the leather is much more flexible and seems to be more friendly to hold.My favorite part of this leash is that the Tan color has little to no stain in the leather, so you don't have to worry about the color transferring to your clothing. My previous dark brown leash from a different company stained several shirts and rubbed off onto my khaki shorts. Not a problem with this leash! Plus, the tan color looks great in person.

This is legitimate full grain leather. I'm impressed.
I make my own full grain leather belts, so I am pretty familiar with the smell and feel of fresh veg tanned, full grain leather and this is that. It has a rough side like full grain leather should, so just know that ahead of time but this looks exactly like the leather I make my belts with, though it's a bit wider than the strap i use for belts by a mm or so. I can't wait for what this looks like after a year or two of use.

Good looking leash
This leash is definitely made from leather and is long enough to accomplish training and good recall. The color is more of a terracotta - pumpkin than it is orange. Still very nice and makes an unanticipated "dog fashion" statement. The thing to note is the color is painted or dipped onto the leash so it is slightly water repellant (think good for lite rain not hurricane downpours-- I've experienced both). Bending it while it is wet will crack the paint a little, but it is barely noticeable. There is also a smell to it, which I hope will dissipate completely after a few more weeks. (Going nose blind shouldn't be the remedy.)I recommend this leash.

VERY DISAPPOINTED DONT BUY !!
VERY DISAPPOINTED with this item. The lead was not a cheap one and I expected better quality. The lead was rolled up in a very small box and once taken out the leather has split and the top layer has seperated in places and is pukkered up. The leather is hard and brittal and not of the best quality. The hook looks reasonable but I have yet to test it. I suspect from the initial quality this lead won't last long which is very disappointing for its price. In total I would not buy this lead again or recommend it to anyone.

Bears no resemblance to pictures and description
White leather lead required for a show ring is pale grey. Tan lead is much lighter than pictures show. in the pictures the lead has a grain. Not so in the item. These items are not those shown in the pictures. They are not as described.Buyer beware. Amazon are now saying that I am responsible for the return. Not so. The goods are faulty and not as described.
