It's easy to just look at prices when buying generic items off of Amazon or the like. 99% of them are literally the same-- same length, same weight, same features, even made at the same factory.But you always wonder why there was one that was more expensive. Is it really better? Well in the case of these unassuming patch cables, the answer is: yes.You can tell that this company didn't just order the same cables as everyone else is using, and it's not just because they have their brand custom molded into the plug!. They are very flexible so it doesn't get in the way, but unlike the silicone wire you may be used to, the coating is very tough, and it feels like you don't have to baby it. The banana plugs go in easily, and mate with a snug, stable grip. The weight of the cable gives it a nice feeling of quality.By comparison, I just bought a set of Pomona minigrabbers, and the wire used felt... Cheap. It was thin, stiff, rough, and all around felt like garbage. I can't say anything about the other items that this company sells, but I'll definitely be on the lookout next time I need test leads.

The first aspect I noticed about these patch cords when I unboxed them was their weight. They ship in a plain plastic bag, and I was expecting the bag to be quite light in weight. Not these cords, the shipping bag was heavier than I was expecting. The second aspect I noticed, after opening the bag, is that the wires are very soft and flexible. In fact, they feel almost as flexible as the silicone wires on my Probe Master multi-meter probes. I have a pair of Pomona patch cords and compared to these cords the Pomona leads are stiff. The extra flexibility is very nice because it makes it easier to position the wires out of the way when using them for power hookups to my HP 6205C power supply. The listing here on Amazon does not say what insulation material is on the wires, but from the flexibility of these wires they do feel like silicone insulation. So all in all, for five colors, with what feels like silicone insulated wires, these patch cords are a great value for the price. Highly recommended if you are looking for banana patch cords.

Great cables. Very flexible wires, nice lantern tip connectors with molded plugs and good strain relief. Have purchased several AST products and been very happy with them all.
