Fuller Tool 890-1072S Reversible Ratchet Hand Drill with 13-Piece Drill Set

Not impressed at all. I bought this for my God son for his birthday because it's what he wanted. The bits that came with it don't seem to fit it right. We are going to try different bits in it. Hopefully they stay bette.

Held bits for one or two uses before the PLASTIC interior part that braces the bit, gave way and easily stripped out.

The Fuller Tool 890-10725 brace can only be used with drill bits that have a hardened tapered shank to fit the this tool. The 13 piece drill set does not work with this brace. Amazon does not sell bits that fit this brace nor apparently does anyone else. This is the first time I have purchased a brace which is a good tool but is unusable without a bit that fits into the tapered brace.

First time I use it the socket that holds the bit is stripped out. It is made of plastic. The 4 tooth system in the chuck constanty binds with other types of bits. Now it just might be the one I received, but I would not buy this brace. Save your money.

Well a drill that says "handles 1/8" to 7/16" shank bits" …. But in reality can't handle 1/4" or 3/8" hex shank bits without great difficulty on the 3/8" and no hope on the 1/4"... Which are what all modern auger and spade bit sets come with these days. This one is advertised with a set drill bits, round shank, that will not work with it. I feel Fuller needs to update and specify the shanks that this tool will and will not handle., and stop putting incompatible bits with it as a combo. I am keeping the brace for now, I have a three jaw chuck ordered to which I intend to adapt to the handle, I have a mini lathe and mill in my shop... I just didn't want to have to essentially build a brace from scratch.

Machining not great, threads in poor shape. Difficult to change ratchet direction.

This product could be better quality. The bits it comes with are subpar but when used with the hand drill, the chuck doesn’t grab and it just spins on the round shaft of the bit. If the bit had flat sides cut into it then it would work perfectly. Other than that there is no problem with the product.

Not the right bits for this kind of jaw. The bits slipped to the point of being unusable, no matter how hard I tightened it.The jaws are also pretty flimsy and bend around the bit while tightening, giving a more uneven grip around the incompatible bits. So even if they shipped with the right bits, I’m still not confident that it would work well.
