Lohmann & Rauscher Debrisoft Debridement Pads, Wound Bed Preparation Pads, 100% Unbleached Monofilament Polyester, Box of 5, 4" x 4"

My best friend is a wound care nurse; my horse had a traumatic gaping open wound that in no way could be stitched on his hind hock. She suggested steps to take and debridement once a week. I know these pads are expensive but considering I have not had to spend a ton on vet bills and his wound is healing extremely nice - I would say they are worth every penny. He doesn't mind the debridement either so they have to be gentle - when I am using the pads I just have him drop tied (not tied to anything) and he is not on any pain meds! Even thought they are pricey; I will be keeping some in our Trauma Kit for the ranch. You just never know.

Very good at cleaning wounds. Soft enough to remove junk but durable. On the expensive side but worth the price.

I had an awful infection on my foot, that caused a deep wound resulting in slough that required debridement. My primary care provider told me I could try to debridement methods at home opposed to sending me to wound care (I heard wound care is very painful, they will use sharp instruments for the debridement). I used the lollies along with a method my doctor recommended- wet to dry gauze packing. I did used the debridement 4 nights in a row with the lollie wand. On the 4th night, the slough was successfully removed. It was fairly painless, but you do need to apply pressure which can be uncomfortable. The cost is robbery, but the product did work. I will say that I tried to use water on the lollie instead of saline solution, and I did find that the saline solution seemed to be more effective when using the product.

I really need to remove the slough from a wound. The information on this product is advertised as solving my struggle at removing the debri. I was really anticipating the product to work as advertised. This product is expensive but I was willing to pay the amount, expecting positive results. I am very disappointed that the results are not any better than what I was already doing.

Well this cleans wounds great without tearing out granulation tissue. It has to be adequately moistened to work. You can feel the pulling when your wound is getting cleaned, but it makes such a clean area when done, gets rid of all dead tissue and bacterial barrier, but leaves granulation tissue intact, which is amazing. Once used have to throw, but used one on 4 wounds and they all came out great! Perfect debridement without killing good growing tissue. Wish these were less expensive

I was disappointed by these - the wand portion isn't sturdy whatsoever. The actual roll portion is good but at this inflated price, the entire purpose of the wand is to help with access - having it fall apart or trying to baby it while working just adds to the frustration. Given the extreme mark-up, this is unacceptable.

These pads work wonderfully like nothing else does for people with painful open wounds that need to be cleaned and debrided. Unfortunately, there is no reason beyond creed why they should be this expensive. You can cut them into quarters (rumor has it) and some people sanitize and reuse them (I here), but that is not best practice. Best practice would be for the company to make this affordable so that people who have to do painful wound care at home could use the product without medieval torture.

This pad works well to debride while causing less pain in the wound.
