Linux Bible 9th Edition, Kindle Edition

I use the product to educate myself about the I.T. science, specifically the LINUX operating system. Being as on May 24, 2019, I received a Microsoft Windows 10 update which disabled my DELL notebook computer. And despite have a flash-drive backup; which enabled me to re-install the Windows 10, within 4 weeks or so the malware in the Microsoft update disabled my USB flash-drive. The DELL notebook no longer could boot, not even the power button functioned. I had to disconnect the main battery and the small battery to the motherboard to clear out the malware and use a Xtra-PC USB stick to boot the computer; which contain the Linux system on the USB device. The DELL computer no could operate with Windows 10 operating system. William Gates of Microsoft is a fraudster.I will never buy a Microsoft product again, I'd just purchased the Microsoft Office package about 4 weeks prior to the malware delivered via Microsoft in its Window 10 update. Microsoft products are for the so-called "sheep" which corrupt individuals in the government and private sector exploit. People which desire to improve themselves, their community, and government must employ the LINUX operating system.

For all its value and usefulness, the Linux Bible suffers from a split editorial personality. While attempting to hold within one set of covers voluminous information on Linux generally and on Linux servers in particular, it has, as a pregnancy in its most advanced stages, become uncomfortably large. What needs to happen is an editorial rebirth as two separate, but related, volumes. Fraternal twins, so to speak.The Linux User Bible would start with Parts I to III, the user-related security materials, and introductory networking information. The Linux Server Bible would start with Part IV, and include server security and advanced networking information. Both parts should be expanded with more depth and detail, allowing, for example, more specialized applications coverage.These comments recognize the continuing existence of the Linux Command Line and Shell Scripting Bible as an integral companion within this shelf space.

It's a good book over all, I have been using linux for 5 years now and mainly use Arch, so a majority of this book was irrelevant. However I gave it 4 stars because the things that I found useful where extremely useful. I know this book was wrote as a guide and it's not meant to be the man page for every command, but there where some flags she did not go over for a majority of the commands discussed that I felt where vital to every day use of linux, lspci -k , is a command i use almpst every time I am troubleshooting and it wasn't mentioned. Again I know it is not a man page for lspci but that flag -k is a life changer.All and all, it is a good book and for $30 you cant beat it.

Have only read the first three chapters and reviewed several others so far, and based on many of the other IT books I've read, this book is well written and will help improve the knowledge and skills of the reader in learning Linux. If you want to learn linux or need a good reference, this book will help with both.

Shipping/Packaging: purchased book new and received a dog eared copy with a creased cover. It was packaged in an ill fitting box with too little filler so it bounced around during shipping. Cover is scratched as well. I know I’m being nit-picky, but I expected more from amazon for a $30+ book.Browsing through the content, it seems fairly comprehensive. I don’t have much to add beyond that yet.

I bought this book because I had no prior experience with Linux because of how big and tiring reading the entire chapters I just skip to certain pages that is crucial for me setting up a basic server. If you're interested in IT infrastructure, getting way around with Linux filesystem, using Linux for daily work maybe personal or office use, and getting into cloud services this book will teach you the fundamentals about Linux.

I'm sure this book will be a great resource for learning Linux, however the book I received has a couple pages in the contents that are literally cut in half. I'm perplexed as to how this slipped through any kind of QC where the book was printed. Thankfully, it's mostly just an aesthetic inconvenience and the book is still completely legible but I figured I'd warn others about this.

This book seems to be geared primarily for Linux Server administrators, for which it probably does a good job. But if you're looking for anything else, it may fall short. For example, I wanted to optimize Linux for digital audio processing, but the book doesn't even mention low latency kernels, ALSA, or most anything else relevant. So the words "Bible" and "Comprehensive" on the books cover are audacious marketing gimmicks in my opinion.

Es un libro muy útil, básicamente para traer diario bajo el brazo y practicarlo constantemente, repasar detalles sobre las distribuciones y su uso, lo que mas me gusta es la documentación para servidores y redes en Linux, lo que no me gustó es que a nivel comandos (Inclusive de actualización e instalación de paquetes) no es muy amplio, es sumamente básico, enfocado mas al click & install, para el uso de bash, hay otros libros.

O livro é muito bom,completo no sistema Linux em si, a biblia mesmo !!Os serviços como DNS, Mail Server,Web Server, etc...tem uma abrangência superficial, até porque cada um deles dariam um livro a parte, mas nada que desabone.Foco em sistemas Redhat based mas os conceitos podem ser utilizados em outras distros tbm.Recomendo!

compré este libro Junto con el de command line and shell que también es de buena calidad en su contenido si deseas adentrarte a conocer el mundo de linux con estructura y funcionamiento este es tu libro! Recomiendo al vendedor , el producto llegó súper rápido, sólo que no pude haber hecho antes mi comentarios. Lo recomiendo mucho!!

Muy buen libro para dominar Linux desde cero, me llego un día antes de la fecha de entregalo recomiendo un 100%
