More suited for constant-on commercial lighting
As another has stated, the dimmer "backup" light comes on every time you turn off the light. We had a power outage, but turning on the light did nothing.I would not recommend it for home use, when you want to switch the light on and off.

Warning
In order for this unit to work properly, you must have an additional positive lead that is NOT part of the switched circuit in order for the battery back up to operate properly. There is ZERO paper work that accompanied the product. Attempts to contact the manufacturer resulted in a circuit diagram stating the need for an additional positive lead that was not indicated in the description on amazon. I would only recommend for new construction or a refurb in order to add an additional line.

Good idea, Would not Function as Emergency Light
Nice bright light, looks good on the ceiling. The emergency lighting concept is good, but failed in my application. Turning the light off at the circuit switch did not turn off the light itself and it switched to batteries, remaining lit until the batteries ran down.
