Great product, perfect condition

An excellent item for all fans of The Beatles. Authentically reproduced, colourful, and fun.
This is the 'Yellow submarine' film 50th anniversary version, I got it to replace an original slightly worn and loved 1968 one, which I had had from childhood, but regretted selling some time back. The only difference with the new one is underneath it has screws instead of rivets, and the hatch release catches are black rather than unpainted, otherwise it is identical. I am really glad this didn't have the awful red hatches of previous reissues of this classic model. I still think, as I did as a child, the red arrows for the catches was unnecessary in the first place, this version is authentic to the original but I still wish they were just the same yellow as the hull and then wouldn't stand out as much. The Beatle figures on mine look much more carefully painted than my original did, I couldn't decide if they had been re-sculpted for this issue or not. Very, VERY happy to have this wonderful little piece of nostalgia back on my desk.

Lovely reproduction of a fondly remembered toy
I saw an original being restored on The Repair Shop the other day and it brought memories of the one I had flooding back. I have no real use for this, nor do I know what I'm going to do with it, but nostalgia won the day and I bought one. Despite the caveats stated previously, I'm very glad that I did. It's a lovely reproduction, with its flip up hatches revealing figures of the Beatles and its rotating periscopes, just holding it was like travelling back in time. It's well put together and well painted, but the hatches on the original were red, on this repro they're the same colour as the hull. This makes it more in line with the movie, but differentiates it instantly from an original - perhaps that's the point.

A nice little memory from the 1960s
I decided to treat myself to this having received one for a present back in the 1960s. It brought back some wonderful childhood memories, with the four Beatles popping up out of hatches at the switch of a button!I wish I'd kept the original but sadly it got thrown out along with all my other corgi models as soon as I grew up and left home. For all of us who are still kids at heart this is a nice little model.
