Surrounded by Grace: A Bible Study for Lent

I am very pleased with Surrounded by Grace. This book effectively lends itself for a Lenten Bible Study or a sermon series on grace. It is organized well with relatable stories and illustrations that help to highlight the topic of each chapter. The scripture texts are effectively explained and help to further deepen the readers understanding of grace in a practical manner. I highly recommend Surrounded by Grace to you for consideration in individual or small group bible study or for use as a sermon resource.

Surrounded by Grace, A Bible Study for Lent is a great book that helped me center myself each day for a new teaching about God and Grace. Bill has a way of writing that draws you into the story, yet is very instructional. I used the book for a 7-day devotion and found it to be a complete “retreat in a book” type of moment. He gives us relatable teaching, excellent questions to think (talk) about, and suggestions of songs to wrap your day in that support the lesson. I found his stories to be authentic and something I personally could relate to. Even though I used it as a personal devotion, I see how he has structured it for a small group style setting as well.

Good book for Lent. You will like how it is set up and the readings that go with the Bible.

Ordered two of same book. One was printed upside down and partway off the pages. Needed for study before Easter and new one won’t be delivered until March 15-31.

I enjoyed the approach used to dissect the topic of God's grace. Each chapter gave a different prospective to the topic of grace, with depth of insight and those insights were well illustrated with real life stories, scriptures and songs.

Bill Thomas is a gifted story teller who uses his talent to bring more meaning to familiar Bible passages. His simple language explanations and relevant real-life stories provide a deeper understanding and appreciation for Bible passages about God’s grace. The questions at the end of each chapter would provide meaningful discussions when used with a Bible study group and provide for deeper inner reflection when read independently. While especially meaningful leading up to Easter, this book would be a great one for independent reading or a Bible study group any time of the year.

Bill Thomas created an easy to follow Bible study. He has provided all the tools necessary for a relaxed, in-depth look at Grace. With objectives, prayer focuses and even song suggestions, Mr Thomas gives any leader the opportunity to offer a study that is meaningful and enriched. At the end of this study, I had a berry understanding of the grace of Jesus from His boundless love.
