Useful guide to the cuisine of the region
Lots of interesting info about the different regions and some of the history of the area, which is a nice set up for the recipes. The recipes are clear and cover a lot of the key dishes in the cuisine, and the photos help visualize what the end product will look like. I also like that there are pronunciations offered for many of the dishes. Some of the health information in the intro would benefit from citations or better explanations, but overall this is a really useful book with some delicious recipes.

A great book for newbies and seasoned cooks!!
This is a great cook book for someone interested in healthy South American cooking. I have to credit the author for really getting me interested in cooking - I am by no means an experienced chef but the first recipe came out great (both husband as well as son loved it!) which encouraged me to try out more. The recipes are well written - often they include a charming anecdote about the chefs childhood - and the step by step is clear and easy to follow. Although I am not a vegetarian, I like the fact that every meat can be substituted with a vegetarian option. The photos make very clear what the end result should look like which is very helpful for me. While I only got to eat South American foods in a restaurant up until now, I can now prepare a healthy and delicious meal myself!

this book sucks !!!!!!
I use Amazon a lot and I'm always pretty satisfied with what I get , I'm Venezuelan , first of all this book isn't 100 % authentic, Goat Tarkari and Chicken Provenzal arent Venezuelan dishes , also , we don't use P.A.N in Cachapas . Overpriced , pics and book in general are very poor quality I wouldn't be so upset if it wasn't so expensive , even professional cooking books with really nice recipes and pics are less than this one.

Love this cook book!
Was new to the Venezuelan style of cooking...come to find out, I was missing a lot. This cook book is full of tasty easy recipes that were inspired by the nomad cook. These recipes were obviously a big part of her life, and I'm so happy she is sharing them with the world! THANK YOU!!!

If you want to know about Venezuelan cooking, then buy this book!!!
If you want to know about Venezuelan cooking, then buy this book!!! I have been following The Nomad Cook on twitter for awhile, so I was excited when I finally got her cookbook. It is great!! I LOVE the eclectic feel that the book has, the recipes, and the stories in it. There are variety of dishes that are in the book; soups, salads, main dishes and dips & spreads. This is definitely a must have for those who want to know about this genre of cooking!!! The descriptions of ingredients and the methods of cooking are clearly written out and easily explained. It is perfect for all home cooks, from the beginners to the more experienced ones.I have always wanted to know about how to cook plantains, but I never knew how to. Now I have a trusted source on how to make them. This cookbook is a keeper and will be used for many years to come. It will definitely become part of my cooking repertoire

This Cookbook is Divine!
I received this cookbook as a gift and I've enjoyed cooking with it. I've made Peanut Burgers, Cazon, Hen Salad, Baked and Fried Fish, Bacalao, Seafood Casserole and Shredded Chicken, my boyfriend is so happy! I'm spoiling him with all these delicious Venezuelan meals! I've learned a lot about the culture and the author always has a funny anecdote to tell about a dish. I'm sticking to it until I have made all the recipes in it. This book is very appealing for semi-vegetarians like myself... and is divine!

Great,healthy Venezuelan cooking !!
Highly recommended for people who are health conscious & love Venezuelan cooking. The cover looks great, very appetizing. This book is a rare find because it's impossible to find a cookbook which features Venezuelan recipes that are both healthy & deliciousEach recipe is accompanied by vivid pictures & the recipes are described in full detail. I made my first arepas yesterday & they came out delicious, better than those from other cookbooks I've used. I can't wait to explore the book further.

A skinny guys dream.
I love to eat and at 153 pounds I'm blessed I can eat all I want, But I also love to cook and when my girl recommend this book I was skitish at first because I'm not exactly vegan. But I have to say I'm pleasantly surprised. The book is very straight and the dishes are very simple to make not to mention heaven on your taste buds. I recommend this book to anyone who want to broaden their culinary horizons.
