Neolithic Shamanism: Spirit Work in the Norse Tradition

Best Norse shamanic book out there.
Great ground work for northern shamanic practice. Raven is a vast source of knowledge! He also has a great desire to share this knowledge. All of his books are extremely in depth. This is the third book of his I have purchased. If your looking for a Norse shamanic take on spirituality this books for you.

Okay
This is an okay introduction, but something still felt like it was missing. There were also areas that have me pause. It sounded like the sort of thing you'd read about in a book on Wicca. Something about that put me off. I felt like it was worth the money to buy it, but I just feel left unfulfilled.

Great information...
I am giving the book 5 stars even though it does have some drawbacks. Firstly, there is a lot of good information, as well as many good exercises in here. And I do believe the authors have a vast store of experience and knowledge which they base their writings on. However, the authors seem to be a bit too totalitarian when it comes to their ideologies. They are on the brink of turning their particular flavor paganism/shamanism into a dogma much similar to any traditional religion. While most of the ideals they stress in such a 'black and white' manner are true for the most part, I personally don't feel shamanism was bound in such dogma. Even with that being said, I recommend you buy all of these authors books, because they do contain great information.

Perfect intro for those who want to get their feet wet
This is exactly the book I have been waiting for. It is full of practical advice and techniques presented in a clear and easy to understand format. I have read other books by these authors and continue to be impressed by how they can shed such a brilliant light on topics that have long been clouded by mystery and misconception. This book is a no non-sense introduction to Shamanism that I would recommend as the first book you pick up on the topic, or to those who have been dabbling for a while. It includes some great recommendations for other books if you feel like you need to know more as well.

This was a good introductory primer to Northern animism.
All of the information was honestly and thoughtfully laid out. This book filled in a lot of holes for me and I look forward to reading the others.

A must read
Whether interested in being a Shaman, or just looking for a book to inspire your spiritual growth, this is a must read! Don't get frustrated and stop reading it if you can't "see" whilst journeying, keep reading as the lessons are worth every second you spend with this book. Also, remember there is more than one way of seeing as the authors point out.

plant spirit medicine and working with the elements really useful. Having some experience with trancework is recommended before
Unorthodox. Mishmash of techniques that might or might not have their origins in Scandinavia. Very no-nonsense, to the point of finding the authors a little bit too: "it is so because I say so", there is little room left for interpretation. Some of the lore is familiar, but some of it is a little questionable.Either way, in the end this book has helped me further on my path. I find especially parts about ancestral work, plant spirit medicine and working with the elements really useful. Having some experience with trancework is recommended before doing most of the exercises and techniques described in this book.

Great Book on Norse Shamanism
This book came at the right time. I am a practicing witch and have been working with the Norse goddess Freyja for many years. Although I won't be able to do many of the crafts and exercises due to circumstances I learned so much about relationships to the beings of the 9 worlds. It definitely helps if one has experience with trance work before reading this book.

Interesting!
I found this book really interesting!Norse Tradition is, actually, the name of Raven Kaldera and Galina Krasskova traditon. The Autors touch a wide range of topic and I like their style in talking about one world or another.I liked very much the care that they reserve to the structure of the book and the choise of how many example treat, how many aspects of the world touch and how they choose the order of the chapter. They take you ad the begin of the book and they show you with effectiveness and care what they had experience in their tradition.
