All about how the show came to be
CROSSING OVER IS A STORY ABOUT HOW THE SHOW CAME TO BE:Crossing over goes into the various situations and developments that made this show possible. From the missteps to the fortune timing that made this show what it is.THIS BOOK ONCE AGAIN CONTAINS JOHN EDWARD'S FRIENDLY BANTER THAT VIEWERS OF THE SHOW AND READERS OF HIS PREVIOUS BOOK WILL RECOGNIZE:The style of this book is pure John Edward. You can almost hear his Long Island accent as he recounts his frustration with the TV people he has to deal with. What comes through loud and clear is quirky sense of humor that is so evident in the show. He has a pleasant way of dealing with people that don't get it; when he is telling them news that isn't packaged quite the way they expected.ONLY A SMALL FRACTION (30%) REALLY GETS INTO THE ART OF HIS TALENT:This book thought it is all about his ability as a medium, it is primarily about the contruction of the tv show and how his particular talent played a part in making this happen. However that aside he does discuss some situations that came up in his other book "One Last Time" in more detail, as well as reveal the signs his mother finally provided him. This aside, I hope he writes another book about situations that continue around the show.IN THIS BOOK YOU CAN SEE HOW PERSONAL A TALENT HE HAS:While reading his book you see over an over, how all-encompassing this work can be from effecting his life choices to realizing his car is missing. This is not merely a job but a calling. Facinating.ALL IN ALL A GOOD BOOK: This book was very interesting, but I found myself wanting more of what makes John Edward famous; his skill as a medium. While he also shows a remarkable talent for capturing his pleasant personality in his writing, I'm afraid the foibles of the TV mechanics don't so much interest me as the personal side of his craft. Mind you I thought it was wonderful that some of the camera men and assistants wound up with reading. This is truly the people side of it. I just don't like to be reminded of the marketing and merchandizing aspect of TV.MANY MISTEPSIn the beginning of his career there were many missteps that bear no relationship to what he does. Marketing nightmares, technical difficulties and journalist entrapments. With so contraversial a topic as mediumship; it is a small miracle that John is the success he is today. It does not take much to tarnish a name and some of the earlier disasters must have felt he was being railroaded into obscurity, courtesy of some marketing/merchandizing mishaps. Don't worry John Edward, the rest of us know, journalist integrity is an oxymoron. Very few of us out here take what we are being spoon fed as gospel.ONE QUESTION:This is something I'm sure John Edward has an answer to. As a interested skeptic who reads alot on this topic of crossing over and then even past lives, is there any negativity that comes back? People like Hitler, Mengele, etc. have all died, does their energy ever come back through mediums? You don't hear much of this. Has anyone reported a past life of horrible deeds?I recognize in the show that John Edward has asked if a person is particularly overbearing or pushy but I have not seen any shows where a really negative person is revealed. However, given the 11PM EST air time, I have seen the show less often than I would like to.It is a great book and I'm waiting for more.

A great read!
Thankfully, I am not a skeptic. I am just happy that John is able to validate for so many people that there is life after life.

Love is Always and Enduring
This book is a good and interesting read - and gives a thoughtful look into John. I like John Edward. I find him to be a little more concrete than I see with other occultists. The spirits are more a part of our life than most people realize - It's not at all unusual to have them around. With the Lord they do watch over us. Scripture says to: "Prove all things" and "To Test The Spirits". I find this to be a good rule of thumb in exploring this kind of thing. John gives some good advice, and does bring comfort to those who are searching and grieving. I wouldn't recommend searching out occultists in the first couple years of a passing of a Loved One (I have mixed feelings about many of them.) - It's an extremely vulnerable time in a persons life. A thoughful counselor or support group would be a better option. I found "The Compassionate Friends" to be a very good group and to be very helpful. All Spirits exist and belong to, and because of, the Lord. (Anyone who is involved with, and close to, animals can SEE in their eyes that they have a soul.) The Lord tries to bring all souls to himself after this earthly existence...where they are safe and happy with him. Just because someone is a minister/priest does not mean they are automatically right. Jesus has something to say about that when he tells some of these believers/evildoers away from him.

Get the tissues!
I read "One Last Time" twice and I was still not prepared for this books touching stories. He goes into more detail about his relationship with his mother and her passing- as well as her three signs from the other side- that is truly heartwarming. Mikey even stops in for a guest apperance. Personally, the chapter "Legends of Rock" was the most jaw dropping. I don't know how anyone could possibly believe in coincedence after reading about Carl Perkins, his daughter, and a special birthday gift. I was reduced to tears at least half a dozen times thoughout the book, but there were times I laughed out loud, too. Like when he refered to the team of him and his best friend, an accountant, as "Death and Taxes." If you are on the fence at all about this book, buy it. It is written exactly like John talks- very down to Earth and to the point. I have seen a few reviews that said to purchase "One Last Time" first then this book, I don't think that is totally true since he does give history on himself and previous situations mentioned in detail in "One Last Time" that reoccur in "Crossing Over". Actually, since I had read the first book twice I kind of skimmed those parts until I got to some new information. So don't let that scare you off of this latest book, though "One Last Time" is just as fantastic. On a side note, toward the end there is a blurb about he and a collegue walking through the airport while the collegue is saying under thier breathe, "Recognize me. Recognize me", and John saying he feels just the opposite most of the time. I am completely dying to know who that was! It sort of puts on blotch on thier credibility in my book, which is why they were not mentioned by name, I am sure. In short, buy the book, get some tissue and comfy. It is fabulous!

Excellent Read.
What a Fabulous insight into communicating with Spirit. John Edwards does not use any fancy words to explain his ability as a medium. This book shows very clearly that John is the messenger and the Spirits are in charge but what a wonderful messenger they have chosen. I couldn't put this book down. Well done to John and the team who pulled this fabulous account of John's journey to print. Going to download every John Edward book I can find, thank you.

A Comforting Read
This book is great for anyone looking for comfort after the loss of a loved one. John Edward is a great teacher and if you are a member of Evolve, you will know how great he is! However, this book is from the beginning of his career in the public eye and deals with how he started but also people he met along the way. I love this book because of the little stories that John shares based on readings he has given. It is through the stories that we get to see the validation that John refers to. When John is doing a reading, he provides validation for people-something small that only their loved one who has crossed over will know. He also conveys how we can all pick up signs starting with our intuition, which unfortunately a lot of us block out now in a mad and crazy world. If you're looking for something raw, authentic and comforting , then I recommend this book. If you're a skeptic , read it with an open mind. No matter who you are, we all lose a loved one and just like we all feel love, we all feel pain too and personally this book brought me comfort. So thanks John Edward!
