Great Book. I am glad she and her documented experiences survived the Spanish Inquisition. Thank you Mirabai Starr for translating her works for us.

This book is incredible. It is the first book of Mirabai Starr's that I have read and now I want to read more of her other works. It's a short book, and I feel it is enough to give you a hearty taste of St. Teresa of Avila. This is my favorite quote from the book: "One of the primary fruits of Teresa's powerful inner experiences was the realization that no intermediaries were needed for the soul to achieve union with God. A person was not required to ask permission to be with the Beloved. All one had to do was to go within, and she would find him there waiting for her. God, Teresa saw, chose the center of the human soul as his dwelling place because that is exactly the most beautiful place in all creation." I'm currently reading The Interior Castle by St. Teresa of Avila and it was written in the Middle Ages, so I'm glad I read this book first. I highly recommend it. There's a beautiful prayer at the end of the book to St. Teresa also. Excellent book! Starr is a brilliant writer.

This is a coffee table book. I bought it because I have been reading Mirabai Starr's translation of Teresa's Life and the Interior Castle. I hoped it would give me some devotional/prayer ideas for a weekend reflection I'm giving on Teresa of Avila. One thing about the quotations used is that they do not credit the exact location (page or paragraph) of the quote. I would prefer to be able to find the quotes more easily in the larger context. Overall, I love Mirabai Starr's translations!
