Hard to find
This was a childhood favorite of a friend of mine. It is very hard to find. She was thrilled and wants to share it with her new granddaughter.

A dream come true!
When I was in elementary school, I received this book as a Christmas present from generous people who bought presents for kids who went to low income school districts. It was the first book that was my very own. I copied the pictures in pencil and crayon over and over again. The book was lost in the mists of time. Years later when my kids were born, I looked for it. I could not find it in libraries or used book stores. Lots of dancing princess books, but none with the illustrations I loved as a child. I did not realize it was a Golden Book printing. To discover that the illustrator was a fashion illustrator explains how wonderful and intricate her costume and dress designs are in this book. The dresses are all different and delightful. As a budding fashionista, these drawings sparked appreciation and creativity in me.Thank-you Golden books for reprinting this long lost treasure of a book.

Just Fabulous
I too have looked for this particular book in its original edition for years. I am 65 and remember a copy being in our house when my sister and I were children. We use to pour over the illustrations for hours and of course imagine ourselves as our favourite princess living in the book!! The costumes are exquisite and the storyline pure fantasy.Over the years I have seen other versions but none of them ever captured my imagination in the same way. I didn't realise it is a Little Golden Book so the price is very affordable. Now I have 3 granddaughters so I am absolutely thrilled to find these books once again. I cant wait to introduce them to this magical story. I may even order another copy just for me.

Wonderful story for every little girl....
I had the original printing of this book when I was a little girl and it was a wonderful bedtime story for me. I have since misplaced my treasured original copy after sharing it with my daughters when they were little and I looked for a replacement for years to read to my granddaughters. I was thrilled to find this reprint of the original book and quickly ordered it, my daughters and granddaughters have enjoyed the story and my trip down memory lane with a treasured story from my childhood. Thank you Amazon and Golden Books!

Used - Good, not very good
The cover and is much more worn than I would have anticipated for a book sold as ‘Used - Very Good’. I’m disappointed, but it’s eight bucks and not worth it to return. Shame. We bought a new one from a different seller on here a few weeks before we bought this one as a gift for a family member. Wish we’d bought a second.

Twelve Dancing Princesses as a Children's Ballet
Dr. Martin C. Taylor ordered "The Twelve Dancing Princesses" as a gift for Beth Storey Taylor, former principal ballet dancer and choreographer. Having choreographed "Carnival of the Animals"--to the music and story of Camille Saint Saens--for the New York Ballet Theatre and for the Harid Conservatory, Beth Taylor saw potential in the book's simple, engaging plot for another children's ballet. The story also touches memories for her and for many other children.(Submitted May 2014)

So happy it's back!
This was my favorite Little Golden Book when I was a child but the only one that had been lost over the years. In spite of not having seen it for more than fifty years, I remembered every bit of the lovely illustrations. I am delighted that it is no longer just a memory, but is now a treasure to pass on to other children. The illustrations are magic - gorgeous colors and full of imagination.

Perfetto! Come me lo aspettavo. Sono tornato a quando ero bambino e sfogliavo questo libriccino con tanti altri presenti nella mia piccola libreria. Grazie

Sheilah Beckett's beautiful art in a little golden book...
The Twelve Dancing Princesses (Little Golden Book) This is the first golden book that I've ever owned. It's a reprint of the original vintage treasure, with all illustrations intact. Sheilah Beckett's style of illustration has its own charm! The dresses of the women depicted have intricate patterns and overall the compositions on each page has a certain harmony that will never tire your eyes. One can turn its pages over and over again to gain inspiration from it as an art-lover, children's books collector or a student of fineart such as myself. Beautifully illustrated reprint of an old classic
The old fairytale of Twelve Dancing Princesses is faithfully retold in a slightly abridged format suitable for little golden books (and both my kids loved hearing it), but I mainly bought this book for the beautiful illustrations. I have been following the illustrator Sheilah Beckett on facebook for a long time and while I was saddened by the news of her death last year I was delighted the publisher decided to reprint this old classic. It's from 1954 and while the artwork reflects a little the 50s aesthetic it has not visibly dated. My kids couldn't tell the difference between this and modern books. Colours are vibrant and beautiful and the delicate yet surprisingly dynamic lineart really does justice to a true princess fairytale. My only criticism would be that the book's binding is not as good as my older Little Golden Books but then having paid less than £3 for the book I can't really complain. Great for kids, even greater for us appreciative of beautiful illustration.

The Twelve Dancing Princesses
A classic fairy tale and a classic “Little Golden Book.” I love the retro illustrations in these books and am so glad that some of the titles are now available on kindle.A poor soldier returns home looking to make his fortune and hears that the king of the country has twelve daughters. Although he locks the princesses in their room each night, every morning he discovers a pair of dancing slippers by each of his daughter’s bed – worn through. Unable to discover what they have been doing, he offers the hand of one of the princesses to any man who can learn the secret of the dancing princesses. However, if the secret is not discovered within three days, the young man will die…Armed with some good advice from an old woman he meets – and a cloak to make him invisible – the young soldier sets out to discover the mystery and make his fortune. This is a traditional fairy tale, well told and with that all important happy ending.
