Nostalgic!
I was four years old when I first read and I fell in love with the curious “monkey.”It made plenty of sense that George could read and write, ride a bike and fly a kite. 🙃Still, I had a great time thinking about my four-year-old self while reading this book.I think I’ll find something else from those days.

Oh, that there were more works like these!
I purchased this book before the birth of my first son, and began reading it to him at a very early age. It quickly became one of his favorites, and at two-and-a-half, it's going to be with us for awhile. Like most of those purchasing this book, it was probably bought for the adult more than for the child, but it certainly is enjoyable when the child develops an appreciation and love for a character that the parent affectionately remembers. The book includes several stories of Curious George, a monkey who is befriended (?) by a man wearing a yellow hat and suit. Being from Kentucky, I was stunned that so many reviewers were shocked, surprised, or "put off" by the use of tobacco products by so many characters in the book, including George. I personally didn't like George's illustrated expression when he was shown the needle immediately prior to receiving an injection, and I usually try to awkwardly skip this page in that particular story. It is also surprising that so few were saddened by George's capture from his freedom in Africa, placed in a bag by the man with the yellow hat, and taken to live in captivity in a zoo. Let me say, however, that these stories are, and rightfully should be, endearing to preschoolers, while perhaps innapropriate for older children, for those extremely inclined to political correctness. The tales of George's curiosity (and misbehavior) landing him into trouble, but with a good ending always, are treasured by children and parents alike. We need more books such as this.Buy this for yourself and child or grandchild, and share something special with them.

70th Anniversary Edition is of great quality, value for money
My now first grader and I read through all of the Curious George stories when she was between 3-5 years old. She still likes to re-read some of her favorites every now and then, so I decided to get this 70th Anniversary edition to add to our home library.I was impressed at the quality of this edition. It is hardbound with two bonus CDs. CD 1 contains: Curious George, Curious George Takes a Job, Curious George Rides a Bike, and, Curious George Gets a Medal. All four have different narrators. CD 2 features: Curious George Flies a Kite, Curious George Learns the Alphabet, and Curious George Goes to the Hospital. This CD too has three different narrators performing the stories. The paper quality is very good with glossy looking color illustrations from the original books. There is an introduction by Leonard S. Marcus, a publisher's perspective, and a retrospective essay for adult readers/ fans to appreciate. The stories contained in this edition are all of the original stories:Curious GeorgeCurious George Takes a JobCurious George Rides a BikeCurious George Gets a MedalCurious George Flies a KiteCurious George Learns the AlphabetCurious George Goes to the HospitalThe bonus for me was the photographic album of Margret and H.A. Rey at the end of the book which provides a brief yet compelling visual history of the authors-illustrators. A great edition for collectors and fans of the precocious monkey!

A Collection of Memories...
The Complete Adventures of Curious George, Anniversary Edition, is a collection of happy memories. Whether your parents read George's many adventures to you, or whether you read them to a beloved child, this book consolidates all those fun times into one volume. It is a wonderful way to have every book without having multiple volumes.I found the quality of this volume to be consistent with other mass-produced hard-bound books which are not deluxe, collector's, or limited edition copies. This allows the book to be priced reasonably and within the budgets of more individuals. I applaud the publishers for realizing that more expensive editions might have limited the number of families able to acquire The Complete Adventures of Curious George, Anniversary Edition.I would not recommend giving this book to a child who will not be having a parent read to them. The volume is large and heavy enough to be unwieldy for small children. It is, however, a wonderful book to give to a family who values reading aloud to their children, to grandparents who want to limit shelf space for their grandchildren's books, or to yourself as a treat. It is a classic and a five-star work!I was able to purchase this from an Amazon seller, so if it is unavailable when you want one, be sure to look at those offerings. My book arrived in perfect condition and was a real bargain.

A book you can read over and over with out going crazy.
I got the electronic version of The Complete Adventures of Curious George. The introduction contains information on the authors and how the story came to be. At the end of the book is an essay about the authors that contain actual photographs. All this is just a bonus compared to having all the Curious George books in one place. The reading is easy for adults to read out loud, though not as smooth as Dr. Suez books, it is still a book I don't mind reading every word to my kids, over and over again (well okay, most of the time). Maybe having so many adventures to choose from makes it easy to read the same book for many days in a row. It also helps that I loved these stories as a child myself. A great addition to any library. I chose the electric format so we could have something when we traveled. And this version does have all pictures

but this is her absolute favourite book to look at
My English wife had never heard of Curious George and, when she beheld this volume, thought that it may be a bit too old-fashioned in its illustrations and a bit too involved for our 22-month-old to comprehend.Subsequent usage has proven her wrong. Whilst our toddler has the attention span of a gnat, yes, we are only able to get through a few pages of narrative at a time, but this is her absolute favourite book to look at, and the first thing she picks up if you ask her if she wants to read. And once you've gone through all the stories, it's possible to take her through an abridged version using the illustrations if your vocal cords are tired. And she will sit quietly on the sofa, just thumbing through the book and looking at the pictures for 15 - 20 minutes at a time (which is a testament to the effectiveness of the illustrations and not my daughter's budding genius!). And we return to this book several times a day. We've had it for a couple of months and she still doesn't tire of it.The only one of the books that she doesn't sit still for at all is the alphabet book, but I'm sure that will come in time. Speaking of which, it seems that the words used to illustrate the alphabet book were chosen because of their phonetic value; I suspect this may be because the thoughtful Reys were not native English speakers (but spoke and wrote in several languages) and understood one of the best ways to learn language. Top marks there.

Love curious George, love this book!
I love curious George and so does my 2 year old. I bought this for him for story time and he loves it. The stories are long and a good bunch of pages so there aren't a ton of stories in the book but it is quite a big book so the pictures are large. The paper sleeve on the outside is maybe a bit too big for the book as it folds under and has wrinkled a bit. It is all the classic curious George, which I find much cuter than the new version. All of the stories are classic stories from the old books. The book itself is well bound and sturdy hard cover. Lovely for anyone who loves curious George.

Classic Children's book collection
This was a great buy for my daughter. She just adores Curious George. However, one should be mindful of when these books were written. While the morals put forward by the stories still ring true, some of the sensibilities of the times may not (some people could be offended or shocked by the content). The bit with the ether is a case in point.

One to keep in a child's library
Bought this as a gift for a friend's toddler as my son thoroughly enjoys his copy (also a gift!). This is a compilation of the original series written by the author, and have the quaint feel of the period. For example, the story of 'George Goes To The Hospital' has pictures from the era rather than of the modern hospitals of today. I love the charm of the curious little monkey, which is missing in the newer stories. Buyers should check the version of Curious George they are purchasing as the newer stories just don't capture the spirit of the originals.

Not complete adventures
This book does not contain the complete adventures. It only contains six stories and an alphabet story. There are many more.
