No, refrigeration is not needed. The probiotic bacteria are freeze-dried and survive at room temperature and are rehydrated and grow in our bodies.

This is a good probiotic for histamine intolerance. I would visit the company website for more detailed information on this. I've gotten a great deal of relief form several of their probiotics. This is the one I use most frequently. good luck!
