Its good for getting the idea of how to write the basic characters (though some are done incorrectly or how the computer writes it.) but its a good start. I recomment the genki book for beginners 1 and 2 to be the base and this as supplement if thats your idea

With easy to follow lines, and plenty of boxes for practice, this is great. I've bought three copies so far, and fill them completely

This is a must have for people who are starting to practice Japanese.

I liked this copy. It had more practice pages then some other books I ordered from various publishers.

A friend of mine is learning Japanese. Bought this workbook for him and he loved it!

The squares for the hieroglyphs are too big. I am not sure what age group they are targeting - first graders who cannot write yet, or people who cannot see well enough. As a result, you end up practicing a lot less than the size of the notebook might suggest.

It's so much easier to learn hiragana (and also katakana with the other book) and to keep them in your mind!I would wish:- a second part with the hiragana's missing (pa, pi, ryu, and so on)- a version with the basic Kanji (like 4 parts with 25 Kanji per book)I will defintly recommend these books to my friends, who are also interessted in learn japanese.Thank you for this great book! Received promptly after purchase, however, the item was not as advertised. Japanese Hiragana cover used on a completely different book. I was NOT looking for "The ABC's of cooking in Maya's world".
