Chick 'n' Pug Meet the Dude Board book – September 2, 2014

I initially purchased this book for my 5 yr. old Kindergarten granddaughter. But it was my 8 yr. old 3rd grade granddaughter who gravitated and fell in love with the characters and related more to the story (probably because she's a "reader" and loves books). Her little sister seemed casually interested, nevertheless, she sat still and listened to the story...poring over and scrutinizing the pictures. She seemed to love "Chick" best with his cute antics. The graphics are very colorful and reminded me of when I was a kid.. (Fun with Dick and Jane). The type is large and simple with just enough big words to challenge a second or third grade reader. I was happy enough that I purchased two more books of this series.

Chick 'n' Pug are on their second adventure in their latest book and it is a winner for us! It seems like several of our favorite board book sequels do not live up to their predecessors (I'm looking at you Little Blue Truck & Pout Pout Fish). I have been burned before, but we gave this a preview in person before buying and we love it.In this book, Chick 'n' Pug's favorite toy Squeaky Hamburger has been stolen by none other than The Dude! The Dude is giant, hairy, and very drooly. It is fun to see lazy Pug, tiny but adventurous Chick, and the humungous yet unaware The Dude. It has the same flavor and fun as the original.

My daughter loves anything dogs and board books are a necessity for a toddler. I was looking for something different than the standard kids rhyming book, but maybe I didn't read the description too well. It seemed to be written with the wit of a teenager or adult in mind. My husband and I find it highly amusing, but my daughter seems lost. The illustrations are even humorous, but seem better fitted for the non-board book set.

Love this book. I got in for my daughter 33rd birthday. She had 2 she hAd to put to sleep 6 months apart. Very sad for her. I saw this book in a local paper and ordered it for her to read to her 21 mth old son. They both love it. Great purchase

Good book, but doesn't really follow the first one. Also, the illustrations are different than the first book.

I put some kindle books specifically to sit with my grandaughter in my lap. She was facinated by the story and could "turn the pages" wihout papercuts or losing our place. The story really kept her attention

Colorful and cute characters. Good for 1-6 year olds. It's the sequel story for "CHUCK AND PUG". It's a story about friendship, acceptance and enthusiasm following your dreams even if they are different of what is expected from you!

Lovely story

A disappointing follow up to "Chick and Pug".
