How to learn Gaelic, but maybe not for beginners...
As other reviewers have noted, this is a book on everyday Gaelic, with no accompanying CD. For those already familiar with Gaelic pronunciation, this may be the next step in learning the language. The book offers multiple chapters with an impressive array of examples of everyday Gaelic. The experienced learner will also be able to learn sentence structure from these chapters. For Gaelic beginners, pronunciation and spelling can be maddeningly difficult. An approach that combines visual and auditory cues might better. For others, this book is cautiously recommended.

Easy to understand, may not have cd
This book is thought fully organized with great reference to proper spelling and then phonetic pronunciation. I am confused whether I was supposed to receive a CD with this book or if that was listed elsewhere? Otherwise a great purchase and easy to understand

Really useful little book
I personally loved this book. It had a lot more than the simple tourist stuff (although that was included). Most of the books like this have stupid stuff, that consists of forty pages of different ways to ask for the bathroom. This book was so much more than that.It was easily understandable, and set up in a way that made a lot of sense. Was simple to understand, without insulting your intelligence. The different chapters including eating out, finding your way around, at the doctors, celebrations/holidays, at parties, and similar things.I will agree with another reviewer who said this took forever to get here. I ordered it on January first, and it didn't arrive until January 27th. But -by ordering it from the UK -I saved almost fifteen dollars on the book, so I'm not gonna complain too much. Just be advised, if you order it the UK, it'll probably take 3-4 weeks to get here.

it is a great book, the best Gaelic guide I've seen by ...
This book does not quite have the extensive vocabulary nor ease of use as advertised. However, it is a great book, the best Gaelic guide I've seen by far, and is very useful. I think I just raised my expectations a bit too high!I am most pleased with the pronunciation guide with each entry. As a self-taught beginner, Gaelic is so confusing to try to pronounce, and this book helps.I am happy with my purchase, have used it already, and will definitely continue to use it, and would recommend it to others.

A good gift for a Scottish history buff
Purchased this as a gift for my dad because he’s trying to connect with his Scottish heritage. After he received it, he thanked me for it in Gaelic. I have no idea if he said it right, but I appreciate the effort. Seems like he likes the book.

Great for beginners wishing to learn conversational Gaelic
This book is a really great introduction to Gaelic! Make 100% sure you get the book/CD combo. While the book itself give book the actual spelling it also give some phonetics. Again a great plus! This helps with pronunciations. The book is very handy, but I want to learn how the language sounds so I can speak it and the CD is invaluable for that.Technically the CD is good. Some track are a little louder than others, but I didn't purchase this for it's fidelity. If it's close, it's enough here. The voices are clear and you can understand what they say = good CD.Slainte!

No CD, just the book
I bought a new copy from Amazon (August 2013). The book description includes both ISBN-10: 1841583707 and ISBN-13: 978-1841583709, which makes it appear this should be the version that includes the CD. It did not. There were other reviews here both positive and mentioning lack of CD, but it is sometimes difficult to tell whether someone has bought a copy that was listed here or separately. At any rate--the book itself looks good, but I will have to search out a CD elsewhere--I don't learn well without hearing. Amazon needs to either change the description or look at their inventory.

Superb book
I have been using this book in conjunction with Gaelic classes - we refer to it a lot, and often our classes are based on sections of the book. It is also a very useful ready reference for quickly looking up words & phrases.

Organised by categories
I was impressed with this volume in which the material is grouped into categories rather than in a phrasebook format. This appealed to me as I can find what I'm looking for quickly and in context.

No audio CD with this.
I was led to believe this book came with an audio CD. The descriptions and other reviews seem to confirm this. Any ideas why mine never? Is there some other way to get the CD or have I been misled?
