A cute story with a message young children will understand
"The Jungle Crew" is a cute story. I enjoyed the rhymes, as well as the message. In the beginning, the Lion was sad and lonely without any friends. Other animals where afraid when they saw his size and his sharp teeth. The Lion meets a sad hippo who is also lonely. At first, the lion thinks the Hippo is odd because she is pink and fat. But he decides she is fun so she becomes his pal. Along the way, the lion meets other animals that join his crew such as a giraffe, a comical toucan, an elephant, a zebra and a monkey. The lion discovers each of his new friends has their own assets and personality. The message is an important one for little ones to learn. In my opinion, the story would be even more fun if with more action. Although the illustrations are cute, they might have shown each animal's personality a bit more.Review by children's author Deanie Humphrys-Dunne

What's Wrong With That?
This is a sweet delightful rhyming bedtime or anytime story about a crew of animals meeting and getting to know each other. They are getting to know each other for the next book adventure and the next and the next. It shows how different they are but how they can get along and become friends.Animals thought the lion was mean and cruel with big sharp teeth. His teeth were big and sharp to chew his food, just like you. He met a sad and lonely hippo on the road. He had big eyed and pink skin and was fat, though he would never tell him that. "Then I wondered what's wrong with that! ". They came across a giraffe. "You won't find a wiser animal than me." If there is a problem the giraffe doesn't quit. They meet more animals along the way. " We are all different yet we are the same because great friends are what we became. " Keep reading/listening because such fun you will have. The website for the free book does not work. How sad.

JUNGLE MATES
The lion walks alone in the forest until he comes across a lonely hippo. The two become friends and the journey continues as new animals like a giraffe, elephant, toucan, zebra, and monkey eventually join in the fun. Each of the animals brings a new character trait or talent like humor, brains, loyalty and generosity to the group. Each of the animals brings out the best in one another. While the illustrations are simple and rather stylized, the rhymes are crisp and sharp. Counting skills are reinforced as each new animal is introduced. I would recommend this book as a bedtime story or fun read-aloud for children ages two through five.

Fun learning book
This is a fun read. It show the difference between animals and how they can work together. Just because someone is different doesn’t me you can’t be friends. Sometimes first impression hide who they really are. The book tends to rhyme.

~~'We are different but the same'~~
A delightful rhyming story for ages 3 - 5 which speaks to the differences in animals. In the book there is a lion, a hippo, an elephant, a giraffe, a toucan, a Zebra and a chimp....The lion is narrating the story and he feels that he is misunderstood. The story emphasizes the fact that unusual friendships lead to fun. Despite our differences there are lots of similarities if we look closely,.The drawings are of each of the animals and are cute and colorful. Thought the rhymes were well done and most highly recommend this book for a learning lesson for the little ones in your family.

Such a good story about differences in friends
I chose to give this a 5 star rating because it is perfect for my animal loving kids. One just started school and the other will be singing soon and it is never too soon to teach children that it's ok to be friends with people who are different in color, shape and size.

A great moral story
What a fun sweet quick read this was! Perfect for teaching children that it doesn't matter what someone looks like it's who they are that counts, by using animals Emma makes this a read that will entice children to read it and take notice of it. It is very well written in a fun rhyming way with beautiful illustrations!

Absolutely brilliant
I thought this was fantastic and I would definitely highly recommend it. It’s about a lion who goes around making lots of friends with various different animals who then all become part of his ‘jungle crew’. This story has rhyming text and bright, colourful illustrations too that children would really enjoy.

Good story with a good message
I love the way the book is written in verse, because it allows the teller to inflect and emphasize as you tell the story. It has a great message within the tale and it is revealed in a way that a child will understand. Can't think of a single criticism.
