Works great
This stove is a great value. It’s compact, well built, and works fine. Testing it in my kitchen using HEET (99% methyl alcohol), it boiled a pint of water in about 12 minutes after lighting (11 minutes using a homemade windshield that concentrates the heat on the pot). I was able to make a delicious bacon and egg breakfast in 19 minutes, about the same time it would take on y electric kitchen range. I’ve had no leakage problems. The O-ring between the stove and lid seals really well, and I get a nice blue flame that blooms in about 90 seconds. BTW, if f you are getting a yellow flame in an alcohol stove, something is wrong.

Better than expected.
I have been using the Trangia for a bit. Bought this mostly for the stand. I ran a head to head with the Trangia and RedCamp using this stand...The Trangia does bloom a lot faster and burn slightly hotter. Trangia has interior wicking. The RedCamp burns a lot longer with the same amount of fuel. Even taking into consideration the longer bloom time. Using 1oz of Heet/yellow bottle and taking in consideration the longer bloom time, The RedCamp burned 4 minutes longer than the Trangia.Trangia boiled 2 cups of water in about 6 minutes.RedCamp boiled 2 cups of water in about 7 minutes. The best configuration for boiling water is to simply set the stand on top of the burner. Top of the burner sticks thru the bottom of the stand. That's what you want for boiling water. Trust me.For cooking...I got the best temp without the simmer ring by setting the burner all the way down inside the stand. Past the "fingers" that stick up. Putting the burner all the way down will give you about the same temp in the pan as medium heat on a stove. Perfect for me. Using the fingers that are built into the stand raise the burner to close to the pot. Resulting in long boil times.Trangia is for sure a quality product. But also is this RedCamp stove and stand. If you can over look the longer bloom time, this is the stove you want. More fuel efficient than the Trangia. Better simmer/snuffer ring. Stand is sturdy and very light weight. I will be buying another one of these RedCamps.

Great value as long as you're willing to make some minor modifications
Ok first the bad: as received this is a very sub par alcohol stove. It works, the construction is sturdy, but the holes are drilled incorrectly and the stand is not bent correctly. If you look at the photos I posted with this review you'll see that the vents are drilled (punched?) in two sizes and alternate. The small holes are something like 0.8mm and the larger holes are somewhere around 1.3mm(ish).I have no idea why they did this. For the stove to function properly the holes need to be the same size. I used a pin vise and some small drill bits to enlarge the small holes to 1.2mm and then used a 1.5mm bit to enlarge all of the holes. The difference is about five minutes to boil for 16oz of water in a controlled environment test. After the modification this little $16 stove will boil water almost exactly as fast as my small Trangia. Before the mod it took almost 5 minutes longer. The other issue is the stand. As it comes the stand will not support the burner in the position in the picture on my review properly. This picture is taken after I've bent those tabs in to fully support the burner. Also the little handle on the simmer ring is cut too short on one side on this unit. No big deal, I can just replace it with a leg from a large binder clip, but still. The final downside is that this stand is NOT a windscreen. You will NEED a windscreen if you're using an alcohol stove outdoors, and will almost certainly want one indoors as well. The manufacturer claims this is a windscreen. It is not. In any way.Ok on to the good! For $16 this thing competes with my $25 small Trangia burner (after 5 minutes with a pin vise and some drill bits). Which also didn't come with any kind of stand. The construction is super sturdy, it's much sturdier than I expected for $16.I picked this up to put in a travel kit so I won't be selling off my Trangia, but if I didn't own a Trangia I wouldn't feel compelled to buy one because the performance difference is negligible (after the mods to this one).In short, if you don't mind doing a very minor bit of modding this is a great way to save $10 and pick up a decent stand in the bargain. Well worth the money for what you get for $16 and a little elbow grease.

good construction
i bought this as back up for emergencies.i have propane heat and cooking, but this was cheap and i liked the look of it, fuel being available in many outlets was another factor, i tested it on generic 1% alcohol from H.E.B which was $2.25 for 32oz at the time, boiled one cup of water in five mins, took 12 mins to boil 3 cups, total fuel used was one ounce, very impressed with it, doesn't like windy conditions at all but that is to be expected from a non pressurized fuel source, fried an egg in a single egg small pan in 90 seconds, get's very hot, my opinion, for the money, convenience of fuel, many options for a spirit burner) the light weight, 100% worth having, i am going to purchase more as gifts, could be a life saver this product.
