Difficult to get going.Really difficult. NO instructions.Confusing.Dont buy

I purchased this product because peoples' personal data cannot be just left on a drive unsecure. The ability to password protect my data with a ten attempt then reformat option is just what I needed to secure files that normally scare me to have around. The price is also very fair compared to other products boasting the same capabilities.

I have been using this for a few days and have been happy so far. Decent read/write speed for a USB 2.0 device.To start, this Flash Drive is not FIPS certified (from what I can tell) so if you need the certification and a specific level of security this may not be for you.The device appear to be solidly built and is made of plastic. It is not small as you need to enter the pass-code if you want to access the encrypted partition. The cap seems pretty secure and should not come off unless you take it off. The drive is also compatible with Windows, Mac, Linux and anything else that can read a flash drive.This device is different than most others in that it has two partitions. One is encrypted and the other is not. The non-encrypted partition is 3.9GB with the rest of the drive being the encrypted partition. Plugging in the device gives anyone access to the non-encrypted partition just like any other normal flash drive.To access the encrypted partition you need to enter your pass-code. The buttons are a bit tough to press but you do get used to it. Once you have entered the pass-code and insert the drive you will be presented with two new drives on your system (encrypted and non-encrypted). If you want the benefit of the encryption you must make sure to place your files into the correct drive.I understand the convenience of having a non-encrypted partition but it comes at the expense of a smaller encrypted partition. It also may cause some confusion when transferring files to the drive. You can not re-size the partitions either from what I can tell to increase the size of the encrypted partition.For the price this is a good device to provide more security then what most people need (as long as you place data on the encrypted partition).

The price point is ok. The instructions are horrible. Even after doing everything I searched about to reset password, it still doesn't work. The key blue light and green light both keep flashing no matter how many times I enter password that flashes green light and I plug it in within 30 seconds. It shows only 1 drive that I cannot open. This is not a good experience using this at all. I would not recommend it.

Updated review: This flash drive died after 4 months. It was kept in cool conditions and in a small, shock resistant case when not in use. I used it daily to transfer files between work and home office. For several days, the drive stopped recognizing while in use so I had to eject it, enter the code, and reinsert to see my files. I had to do this 10 times in an hour at one point, and when reinserted it was no longer recognized on any device. I lost every file I was working on, which I have been unable to recover. I like the options and price of this flash drive, but because of very low durability I am now giving 1 star.Prior review: This appears to be an excellent product. After I finally managed to get the password reset (i.e. found the instructions in the box), this product has worked perfectly. The only thing I don't love about this flash drive is that it's so wide I cannot plug my mouse key in next to it, therefore sacrificing one of only 3 USB ports on my laptop.

This is a great invention. I use it to store password. And because it has to be opened with a code, if you loose it, no one can open it. It is great. If you are one of those luckly people who have to change passwords on different things at work every 30 to 90 days, this little guy will save your life.

So far an excellent product than performs as advertised. I particularly like the normal & secure storage partitians as well as its price. Only downside is that it does not have a simple way to attach to a keychain (oddly significant to me).
