Lonely Planet Epic Bike Rides of the Americas

I bought this book as a gift and it was a hit. The quality is excellent with sturdy pages and great photos, and it arrived in perfect condition with no damage. It’s a beautiful book for anyone who loves cycling or adventure travel.

My son lived the books. Men are hard to buy a gift for. I was pleasantly surprised when my son said that he thought the books were good very good!

This is a very nice book for my son who wants to bicycle around the US and other countries. It is an older book in the sense that some research may need to be done to make sure that nothing has changed, but the book gives a wide variety of places to go and routes. I like that there is a personal account of each trip and has a map highlighting places of interest. It also gives suggestions of additional bike trails to ride in that location. The pictures are nice; they give an idea of the terrain.

This book is designed for cycling enthusiasts who are seeking inspiration for scenic bike journeys. It includes overviews of bike treks ranging from easy to challenging, covering routes in a variety of places and of varying lengths. Since this covers all of the Americas in one book it is not a guide to finding bike routes in your area. It just includes some of the more scenic and well known bike trails that a lot of people would like to try. There are 2 different cross-country routes for the USA included and while a majority of the routes are in North America you will also find some in South America and Central America. The book tells you what you need to know for each recommended ride, such as how to get there, what to bring along, the difficulty of the ride, and highlights of the route. Overall I found this book to be appealing and nice to browse through, something to inspire a future cycling oriented trip. Since it is hard cover it will be durable and could function fine as a coffee table book.
