... this brush for several weeks now am am quite pleased with it
I've been using this brush for several weeks now am am quite pleased with it. The price was right. It seems well-made and it does the job a shaving brush is meant to do.Several purchasers mentioned an unpleasant odor, but upon unpacking, I gave the brush several good sniffs and was not aware of much if any smell at all. Nevertheless, I followed the advice of another owner and 'seasoned' the item before use: soaking it in soapy water, allowing my usual shaving cream to dry in the bristles before rinsing, etc. Easy enough to do, and the brush has performed perfectly well since then. No smell whatsoever (beyond a faint scent of Gillette Foamy). I also read a few reviews above that complained about shedding, but this has not been my experience. During my first two weeks of use, the brush lost a handful of bristles (certainly less than a dozen), but since then none at all.I'm surprised by how well it fluffs-up each time I dry it (I purchased the matching Simply Beautiful brand "ebony" brush hanger––a simply-made device that fits the brush and works as advertised). The black plastic or resin handle of the brush is smooth, weighty, and attractive. All-in-all, a fine product and a bargain, as far as I'm concerned. Will update my comments if it develops any problems in the future, though I do not expect this to happen.

Excellent shaving brush
I recently purchased one of these badger hair brushes after researching shaving brushes. I've gotten pretty tired of buying overpriced disposable cartridge razors and thought I'd try my hand at some good old fashioned wet shaving. I've read about the importance of using a good shaving brush for wet shaving and it seems badger hair brushes are the way to go. I find that when it comes to quality, you usually get what you pay for. That being said, it didn't take me long to realize how expensive some of these brushes can cost. That was of course until I came across this little beauty. After reading some of the reviews on other similar brushes, I found they had issues with the hair (bristles) coming loose, or there not being enough bristles in the first place, or the handles not being good. Basically poor quality craftsmanship. I'm happy to say that I've not had any of those issues with this brush and I'm amazed with the high quality of this brush, especially for the price. The handle has a nice weighted feel and the bristles are soft & dense. I've only had a couple bristles come out but that is to by expected. I highly recommend this brush to anyone looking for a good quality genuine badger hair brush at an economical price.Best regards,classact72

Good Starter Brush
I'm new to the world of shaving with a safety razor, so I didn't want to spend a fortune on my first brush. This brush seemed like a good option. It was black, which matched my razor handle (), and I knew it would fit in the brush and razor holder that I wanted to get () since that is made by SimplyBeautiful, as well. The price was right, too. When the brush arrived, I immediately took it out of the box to inspect it. The handle is simple, yet stylish, and the badger hair was soft to the touch. Next, I pulled on the hair to see how well the knot was secured to the handle. It popped right out, glue and all. Immediate one star reduction. I managed to superglue the knot back into the handle, and it seems to be holding up well so far.Other than the knot coming loose, the brush has performed well in the two weeks that I've used it. It whips up a good lather, but the hair isn't as soft on my face as I would like it to be. I guess that's the difference between this brush and a $50+ silvertip badger brush. I plan on upgrading eventually, but this was a great value and is a very good starter brush. If the knot were secured to the handle better, I would have given it 5 stars. I would recommend this to those looking for their first shaving brush.

Excellent starter brush
I just received this brush today. I am a new proponent to classical wet shaving so my credibility is limited. I read many of the reviews on this item before I purchased it which claimed a slight scent of "wet dog" upon the first few uses, this did not bother me much as I expected the smell (it is real badger hair) some other reviews also claimed the loss of a few hairs during use, again this did not hinder my decision to purchase this brush because it is inevitable to lose a few hairs from the brush. I also did some reading on the web and decided that a brief break-in period for the brush would be adequate so I got a little pearl sized amount of shampoo and massaged it into the bristles and let it soak for about an hour and to say the least, the water was dirty brown and smelled of that "wet dog scent." I am yet to build my first lather with this brush so I will update my review after a few uses. The brush handle seems to be made of a strong material and looks exactly like the photo for the listing. The badger hair is very soft right out of the box and the packaging was rather simple, an unmarked white box containing the brush wrapped in some tissue paper. I decided to purchase this over the Escali brush, due to the majority of the reviews stating much more hair loss from the brush. I chose a five star rating based on the physical appearance, construction, usability, and overall quality of the brush. For the price, I would recommend this brush to anyone who is either just starting to explore wet shaving or on a tight budget who still wants to enjoy the experience of a brush.

Excellent product for the price, creates very good lather, and has both coarse and fine qualities
This is my first experience with a shave brush, but what I have seen so far is that it works very well, and creates an amazing lather. The brush itself seems fairly well made for the price, although I have noted a few loose hairs over time. This was expected based on reviews from others. I have been using it several times a week for the past month (or so), and have found the number of loose hairs to greatly diminish. I assume this was just a temporary effect and shouldn't present itself going forward. The brush itself feels very good when creating a lather directly on my face, with fairly stiff bristles allowing a good working-over of the area. However, if you apply a little more pressure to the brush, it spreads the course bristle ends away, allowing for a much softer spreading of the cream. So you can somewhat tailor the application to a comfort level you prefer. Again, I don't have other brushes to compare this against, however with the performance of this current brush, I have absolutely no desire to try anything else. I will try to update if any problems arise.

95% of the brushing experience for 25% of the cost
The handle is resin which is not stated in the text but is to be assumed considering the price. The handle is nicely finished with a high polish and though inexpensive seems fine. The brush bristles seem reasonably good too. Thankfully I got what I expected and there were no negative surprises. This is my first shaving brush ever but I expect that this delivers 95% of the brushing experience for 25% of the cost.

Bang for the buck
Received item in no time, far superior to my old boar brush. I've used it two times and when soaked in hot water, will start to have that strange chemical smell. Must be the glue and not à deal-breaker for me. Nice brush and very nice price.

It's alright
Fairly decent but I do get a bristle or two on my face every time I shave

Cheap quality. Bristles keep falling out.
The hairs keep falling out! Stay away from cheap brushes like this. Every time I shave I find at least 10+ loose bristles on this brush.
