Brubaker brings the story back to its former heights.
So I've read every omnibus in the brubaker run thus far and I do have to say I was pleasantly surprised to find this one as one of the best. After the third installment of captain America lives, I expected the series to begin to wane, but the story certainly begins to pick up the pace. The writing is solid throughout and the art is pretty decent; at first I found the art to be inconsistent, from modern to cartoony to gritty, seemingly swapping around at random, but as the story goes on the art is very situationally appropriate, especially the gulag issues. The story is great, nothing less than what you would expect from brubaker; great character development and this portion of the run does tend to develop more of the supporting cast and the relationship between Rogers and Barnes. It is well put together omnibus, with the arcs placed well in between eachother. The sewn binding provides the resiliency you would expect from a marvel omnibus. My only gripe is im not a fan of the cover art. If you were discouraged from the previous omnibus, then this one can revive your hope in the series. This is great omnibus and definitely worth your time and money if you're a Cap and winter soldier fan.

Brubaker wrote the best winter soldier story
Brubaker wrote the best winter soldier story, that's for sure. Shame he does not do superheroes any more. This story is very important to Bucky and Steve, to me as well. Personally I think Marvel did not take the good opportunity to do Bucky any good after the movie's bit hit. The promotions Sebastian was left out most of the time. The new comic sucks (shame on you, Kot). It's like Marvel did not want the Winter Sodier become popular more than he was. All in all, I miss Ed, it's the best of times, both for Bucky and for me. Now I'm waiting for the Return of the Winter Soldier Omnibus to release, the Life Story of Bucky Barnes is not available for a long time and this book finally contains that story.

if you like Captain America, get this.
Brubaker did to the comics what the Russo brothers did to the movies. This is an outstanding run and made me fall in love with the cap and winter soldier characters.

Brubaker is the best
Brubaker continues to out perform himself. Captain America was never a must read character for me until Brubaker started writing him. I can't wait for the final omnibus.

Captain America Omnibus Volume 4
I love Ed Brubaker's Captain America run. I own the other three omnibus collections, so this one was a must. However, there is a difference in this one that almost made me drop the score to a four star book, but I just couldn't do it. The story and art are so good, I gave it five stars. The reason I almost gave it a one star reduction is due to the book cover. Though it is nicer then DC books, with the plain black covers, I miss the old Marvel omnibus covers. The new ones, which do offer additional art at times and look nice, damage way to easy. I have read the first three Captain America omnibus collections many times, and the covers still look new. After one reading of this book, it is covered in dings and scratches. Serious, you brush against this book, and there is a mark. The shield art is nice on the cover, however, the art is not worth it if the book damages that easily. As for the rest of the book, the binding is great, as well as, the paper quality. There is an index, which is somewhat useless due to the pages not being numbered. However, it does provide artist and writer details, as well as, the issues contained in the story line run. Like I said above, the paper quality is good, and the ink soaks into it quite nicely. As for extras, it contains two interviews with Brubaker and the artists, as well as, a variety of cover art.The main reason to get this book is the story. Brubaker knocks it out once again. I don't want to give away any of the plot. However, I will say this, the book dives into the personalities and idealogies of the characters a lot more, while continuing on with the whole spy/espionage angle Brubaker has become known for doing in this title. I loved it from beginning to end, and am already on my second read through it. I have been waiting for years for this book. I heard that the fifth book will be out next year, which I hope continues to impress. Though the cover has its flaw, which is annoying, the story and the extras more then make up for it. I highly recommend this book.
