Sons’ Favorite Movie!
My boys would have this on repeat every day, all day, if we’d let them. It really is a cute story with a good meaning behind it.

A great movie for you and your kids!
We had the chance to see this movie in the theater before it came out on DVD (it had a limited theatrical run the month before it was released). We weren't sure what to expect, but I have to say that we loved it! The movie is bright, colorful and FUN! The animation is surprisingly good, and the voice acting top-notch. Usually, movies for younger kids can drag, but this one moved along at a perfect pace, keeping all the kids in the audience enthralled. And I was pleasantly surprised at how FUNNY it was, keeping the adults entertained, too. The filmmakers really did a nice job of making sure all ages can enjoy this.I also love the fact that this movie was done in conjunction with the Starlight Children's Foundation. Part of the proceeds from the ticket sales went to benefit that charity... and 50 cents from the sale of every DVD also go to help them. So not only are you purchasing a great movie, but you're also helping a good cause. And the theme of this movie is not only perfect for the children who benefit from the Starlight Foundation, but for kids everywhere: "I think I can!"All in all, if you have young kids, or are a kid-at-heart, this is a must buy! It's a beautifully made, POSITIVE movie with a great message and entertaining characters. I hope they make toys to go along with this!! :)

My 2 1/2 yr old son cannot get enough!!!
My little train lover is literally obsessed with this movie. It came on tv the other day unexpectedly and knowing he loves trains, let him watch it. there are some 'scary' scenes with the nightmare train, but we watch it together and now he doesn't get scared anymore...he laughs and tells the 'monster train' to get out of the way, we have a mountain to climb. i like that there is this 'scary' element to give us some discussion points and bonding moments during the movie. i also love that he has found his (first, perhaps) childhood favorite. i was soo incredibly grateful that Amazon Instant Video has this movie; it was purchased and downloaded onto our iPad after the first viewing. i am embarassed to say just how many times since he got this last week he has watched, or asked to watch, this wonderful movie! i also love that it is not themed-- not Disney, Thomas, etc. Just plain ol' classic story time fun!

Great memories
Our first daughter loved this movie when she was young and it was free on prime. We purchased it for our second daughter since it was no longer free these days but she loved it just the same.

Great Movie - A little scary in parts
My 3 year old son LOVES this movie! It's really cute, but my only complaint is the "Nightmare Train". It's REALLY scary. I was afraid it would give him nightmares, but thankfully it doesn't. I just comment to my son that the Nightmare train is not a nice train and it needs a time out. Now my son just says "look mommy that's the mean train - he needs a time out." Phew... problem solved. I would definitely expect the train to bother a lot of kids though! If your child is really sensitive to these types of these things then I'd probably skip this movie.

Awesome
Saw part of this film by chance on HK tv and it hooked me. I had not heard of it in the UK and looked it up. The two extremely long reviews in Amazon have me totally baffled and wondering what these reviewers saw and felt compelled to write this review to counter it.I was in trepidation how my grand children of 6 and 4 would react (thinking it might be too boring for them) but the the 6 year old exclaimed at the end: Awesome, hence the title of this review. They both sat through it rivetted. She then asked if the little train was a girl and I said yes - she then jumped up and shouted "Yeah, girls are best!", typical young people's reaction, superb, it tells me that the film is excellent. The film is about a boy bullied at school and loses his dad's watch to bullies and is scared to go home. Then finishes up on a train and is taken to dreamland. The track going to the terminal goes through a final (dream) tunnel and the tunnel collapsed stranding the boy. The train who took the boy to dreamland did so as he fell asleep on duty allowing the boy to get on and as a result is demoted to track cleaning duties. The boy has to be taken back to the real world but the track is closed due to the collapsed tunnel. All big trains are despatched to the tunnel to repair it, leaving only the small engine. She takes on the plight of the boy and learns from the suspended engine that there is an old mountain track leading back to the real world. She gets permission to go, since the control tower is too busy with organising the repair and doesn't really take note and she gets promise from him that if she succeeds the suspended engine (Rusty) will get his job back. She manages that and on the way picks up some other stranded toys from the real world which were on the way back with another engine which broke down. With lots of effort and adventure she succeeds in her task with the help of the boy and the "toys" including defeating a nightmare train on the mountains. The story is fast flowing and has lots of morals and shows young people how to stand up to bullies, how to have confidence and how to respect each other and how to help. I think that is what appeals it to young people as they can associate a lot of the behaviour of the characters with their classmates they go to school with and because good wins over bad. It's very well made and the animations are superb.Very enjoyable and good to watch.
