Doesn't prevent infestation, but it does slow it down.
First found this at Walmart when my child got lice. I have used it in my hair and my children's every day since, only to endure finding eggs in our hair. It states that it prevents lice infestation.....infestation being the key word. Now if I find more than 10 lice or their eggs than I do not find that as prevention. I thought it was working great, but a month later I was still finding eggs in my child's hair. I will say that I was nit picking every egg that I found, thinking that if there aren't any eggs to hatch then there will eventually be no more lice. This was a skewed way to think since I was finding adults in her hair after washing and even letting it sit for 7 or more minutes on the scalp before rinsing. Yesterday I decided to try my nit comb again and I was totally itching afterwards when I had pulled out at least 10 egg laying adults and about 30 or more smaller lice that had recently hatched from eggs that I must have missed...and this was after washing, waiting 11 minutes before rinsing and then finding these new lice that were not all dead upon removal. Some of the smaller more fragile newly hatched lice may have died, but the adults were still kicking. Seriously disappointed and will be requesting my money back. Wish me luck.On the lighter side of things I gave it three stars for it's possible assistance for at least slowing down the process and letting me catch the little critters after washing the hair, since it at least seems to stun the adults long enough to be able to see them sit there and remove them before they get their undoubted second wind. It smells pleasant as well. But it doesn't necessarily prevent infestation....just slows it down. Also wanted to add that I was diligent with home cleaning and follow-up of it on a regular basis, all others in the house remain lice free, but that could be due to strict rules of prevention of it spreading to others.

Lice no more?
It's back to school season for my girls. Yes, girls. Girls with long thick hair. What happens every time you get kids back to school? Lice. When they got back to school and are all excited to see their friends and start hugging - one of my daughters friends pets jumped on her and started an epidemic in my house! Both of my girls ended up with lice and it was a freaking mess. It's not only embarrassing, but it's frustrating to get rid of and so much hard work to pick and pull and the kids won't sit still. I could go on for ever. I ordered this to try and get them out. My problem with this is that it killed some of the lice but not all. There were lots of others that somehow escaped the wrath of Vamousse. It was easy to use and left on as was instructed but it took several treatments in order to get them all out. For that reason I gave 4 stars. It does work but this time it wasn't so good for my girls as some of the other brands.

Did nothing!!
Did absolutely nothing! Do not get a false sense of security. We used this shampoo thinking it would prevent another infestation only to have it return on 2 occasions over the past 6 months. We were desperate to do anything to stop another infestation. Our family was extremely concerned when we first got it (never had it before). We spent all sorts of money on different products. Everything from Sprays, Oils, Gels, Shampoos etc... We used this shampoo religiously. We isolated all things that touched our families heads for 4 weeks in bags in the garage on both occasions. Froze and boiled combs. Switch sheets daily. Washed everything in hot water. What is comes down to, the comb is the only thing that really works.HEADS UP! Notice that the product description says ***Previously labeled as PREVENTS lice infestation. Switch to to PROTECTS against lice infestation.****Update 9-8-16****Got lice again. We had half a bottle of Vamousse left. Friends had lice while we were on vacation and their child used my wife's brush. So, we used what was left in the bottle daily. Hope still existed!!! I know.... you'd think with with the negative review I left I wouldn't try it again. But, in desperation we pull out all the stops. 2 weeks later after daily use....... LICE! What has worked since getting it, Huge bottle of Conditioner and daily combing. Bagging and washing clothes and stuffed animals.

I fought the lice And I won!
I bought this product because every time we got rid of it… It would come back and I'm pretty sure my son kept getting it from somebody at school… I bought this stuff haven't had anymore problems since and this will now be our regular shampoo forever lol- I bought this product because every time we got rid of it… It would come back and I'm pretty sure my son kept getting it from somebody at school… I bought this stuff haven't had anymore problems since and this will now be our regular shampoo forever- I highly recommend keeping a stockpile of both the shampoo and the lice treatment just because you got rid of them now doesn't mean you're out of the clear forever it's always good to have something on deck just in case!

Works well.
We use vamousse religiously in our house, but I find that this version of vamousse is not as effective as the other bottle you can get at say Walmart or CVS pharmacy. I will vouch for this brand though, it has gotten rid of lice in our house for almost a year now continuously and we will continue to use it weekly in our washing regime.

Works to prevent re-infestation after treatment or as a preventative when there are school outbreaks. Good to have onhand.
It's stressful when there is an outbreak at school and you find nits in your child's hair. We have used this shampoo in the past when dealing with this very scenario and still use after sleepovers, etc. as well. Great to always have on-hand just in case. If you do use it, be advised that if you leave it on longer than 3 minutes, it can seriously irritate your skin. It dries out hair as well, so I wouldn't use it daily unless there is an outbreak. But I have experienced that it works. Does not kill nits. Kills adult lice though, so good for daily use after treatment to prevent re-infestation.
