An outstanding bargain
The chances are that anyone who has paused to consider this rather unremarkable-looking item will know full well what makes it unusual: on paper it's an awful lot of watch for a remarkably modest price. It has a solid bracelet, sapphire crystal and a hand-windable hacking movement running at 28,800 beats per hour, which really is going it some. The watch comes in a rather natty box with a polishing cloth and no manual. Cosmetic presentation is well done throughout; that the case is nicely turned out isn't so remarkable but to find such a good bracelet at this price is a real surprise. Links, end links and the butterfly clasp are all solid and the finishing is hard to criticise. The movement as seen through the display back has blued screws and some perlage on the rotor. We are not talking Geneva Seal of course, but nobody would have had grounds to moan if Starking simply hadn't bothered at all. The balance and escape wheel are visible, and watching them at work is quite hypnotic. At 40mm diameter this is on the large side for a dress piece, and it looks even bigger somehow. The big sparse dial and narrow bezel probably contribute to that impression. Indices are applied bevelled darts with a high polish matching the Dauphine hands: both catch the light in a pleasing manner. The figures are similarly shiny and inoffensive: that's meant as a compliment because typography is usually the biggest tell tale of a cheap watch, but not here. I am not the sort of person who owns a diamond tester, but enough well-equipped, suspicious minded people have checked the crystal on this model and pronounced it sapphire for me to be quite content to take it on trust. This brings me to two criticisms. The date window is tiny and out of proportion to the dial - a result no doubt of using a small movement with a large case. I'd rather they'd dispensed with the date complication, but it can hardly be said to be obtrusive. The crown is more of a problem because it's slippery, making it adequate for time and date setting, but downright nasty for hand winding. I am seriously considering having it remilled by a watch repairer - it's that bad. This may seem like a small thing, but it could have been rectified so easily.Timekeeping has been not far short of astounding: whether this is the benefit of a high beat rate, remarkably diligent factory adjustment or just a fluke is moot, but I'm impressed. The only sensible conclusion I can come to based on my sample is that this watch is a bona fide bargain, as good as the specifications suggest. It's a pity about the crown but it's nowhere near enough to warrant docking a star. Heartily recommended.

Well Made Watch
Got this yesterday. I usually wear larger watches (42MM - 47MM) but this one was singing to me so I took a chance. Wow. What a positive surprise! Very well made bracelet. Nice clean dial with an upscale, dressy look. I think the hour markers are faceted but I haven't looked too closely yet. 28.8 movement is super smooth. I really am in love LOL!Now, this one is running about +30 seconds per day. I don't mind....I'm one of those people that will open up the case back and give the regulating lever a small tweak to get it down under 10 seconds per day. But I'll let it run for a few weeks before I do that to see if it settles down on it's own.All in all, an incredible purchase with a lot more wrist presence than the 40MM would lead you to believe. Bracelet is awesome. Highly recommended!P.S. Get the white dial if you want it to look a little bigger on your wrist. I have tried on both and the white dial had more oomph!

Incredible value. Accurate time, comfortable bracelet. Short power reserve.
Nice looking watch, keeps accurate time, nice finish, bracelet is excellent- solid links, has both satin and polished surfaces. and very comfortable. The bracelet alone is worth the price. Markers on dial on not applied, it appears that the entire watch face is molded, including the raised Roman numerals, which are then colored silver with a heat transfer or pad printing. Overall the face is well done and attractive but not to be compared to a more expensive high quality watch. My only real complaint is the short power reserve which is less than 40 hours and may be as low as 30 hours. This is a smooth sweep high beat movement which explains the shorter reserve but a higher priced watch would have a high beat as well as a 40 hour power reserve. Overall the watch is worth more than the price paid and I have no regrets about buying it. I actually now own 2 Starking watches and both are performing well.

More bang for your buck then any other watch .
WOW. I purchased this watch because I seen the review on a YouTube channle that I subscribe to he gave the swatch a lot of praise. And I will too . The price is unbelievable for what you get. You get a sapphire crystal on a $50 watch. I hope Seiko Learned from that . You get a true high beat automatic movement . 8 beats per Second. That is crazy usually eight beats per second is saved for watchers starting at the $300 price point and even some of them are not. Beautiful hand applied our markers. We’re a cheaper watch usually skips out is the band. Now I cannot tell good leather from Bad quality leather at all but this is a very supple durable leather band I like it some may not. It has a skeleton case back that are screwed down and waterproof to 15 m I believe that is approximately 165 feet. Right now mine is running at six seconds fast per day Which is excellent. That is even more than acceptable for a expense of Swiss watch. Don’t miss out on this bargain of a lifetime. I think once the menu facture finds out how fast these things are selling and that people love them I believe the price will go up I hope not but that’s just my opinion this is a highl which is excellent. A mixed bag
I would really have liked to give this one 5 stars. It is really a beautiful watch with a nice case and band and an amazingly nice dial for this price point. There are other positives as well, such as a sapphire crystal that is very rare at this price. However these watches appear not to be regulated. Mine runs at about +22 seconds a day. If you have a Timegrapher you can regulate it yourself, but that can be very tricky. One slip and you can do real damage and have a $50 paperweight.

A Real Shame
I really liked the watch. But every other day or so, it would fail to advance the date. It seemed fully wound, and I had been wearing it consistently. So I would adjust the date. And the next day it would advance ok. Whew! But the day after that....it would not advance! Very frustrating.A real shame because otherwise, I REALLY liked the watch.I ended up returning it to Amazon for a refund.
