Fantastic book! I loved sharing it with my kids as a read aloud. Together we were delighted to share experiences with the Vanderbeekers again. I love the example for my kids of the children working together towards a common goal, the realization that people aren’t who you assume they are at first glance, and that hard work can pay off more than you every hoped. My kids love how relatable the characters are to each of them. We all get sucked into the lives and story of this literary family that has quickly become one of our favorites!

Our entire family loved this book! We already loved the characters from reading the first book. We really enjoyed following their challenges as they tackled their project out of love. The new characters we met were just a lovable & memorable as the rest in this series. My 6 year old wants to know of we could move to 141st Steet someday! I think I may like this second book better than the first!! Both are so great!

Our 9-year old devours these books. The second one in the series is just as good as books 1 and 3 (out now). It's got a great sense of family, drama, humor, and dventure. There's a dark enemy (but not scary), and the Vanderbeekers work together in their classic chaotic and wholesome way to vanquish their opponent. The end is uplifting, but it's the fun along the way that makes the book so great for young readers. Very good buy.

My daughter really enjoyed the Vanderbaker’s first book and so for Christmas we bought her the second one. She enjoyed it just as much. Would definitely recommend it and nothing stood out to me as being inappropriate for kids !

This book is AMAZING! It has made me cry, laugh and remember all the wonderful mischief siblings get Into. It has also reminded me how wonderful children are.

I love this book series. It’s adorable! I’m 40 and read it first and then gave to my 14 and 12 year old nieces.

An endearing story about an "intentional" family of neighbors living together in a Harlem brownstone. The Vanderbeeker children secretly build a garden to honor their elderly neighbors after one suffers a stroke.

I bought his for my 10 year old granddaughter. She had read The Vanderbeekers of 141st Street, the prequel to this book, and enjoyed it. At 10, she's a prolific reader and developing her own personal taste so its sometimes difficult to choose a book she'll like. So glad this was a winner.

I’m 10 years old, I would curl up in my bed at 7:00 and when I look at the clock again it would be 10:00 it was a great book so addictive

子供達の活躍でハッと「人って本当はそうあるべきだよね」と改めて思わされる一品です。教会の横の長年使用されていなかった土地。Condominiumを建設を目論むDeveloperと、Vanderbeeker兄弟姉妹がBrownstoneの上階に住むMiss JosieとMr Jeetの為にしたい事が、対立します。その土地は、かつて教会にくるメンバーの子供達用保育園だった場所。また、初めてアフリカ系の血を引くMr Adam Clayton Powell Jrが1944年に下院議員になる時にも関連した歴史的な土地。実は、Brownstoneの大家Mr Beiderman一家にも深く関わる土地です。あれだけ謎だらけだった大家のMr Beidermanは、何年も自分のアパートから出ない生活をしていました。前作ではVanderbeeker兄弟姉妹にとっても謎の人物でしたが、今回は一緒に地下鉄に乗ってNew Yorkの街中まで出掛けるまでに発展します。Mr Beidermanが、子供達のおかげで過去に整理を付けつつ、表舞台に。子供達の「誰かに心底してあげたい」の気持ちがいっぱいの一冊です。かつて、私達大人もそんな気持ちを持ったことがあると、今まで思い出したことのない想いがよみがえってきます。
