One of my favorites
I have been benefitting from Pete Egoscue's pain-free muskuloskeletal "ecises" since 2003. In fact, after the battery of traditional procedures for my debilitating chronic back pain and sciatica had no lasting effects: 3 rounds of steroid injections via a top anesthesia physician in my locale, visiting 2 different physical therapists, 1 great, another not-so-great, 1 pretty good chiropractor, an awful lot of pain pills, I was a basket case. I finally encountered Pete's original book. Read it, tried a routine of exercises, and within one day I knew I had found my answer.I was so impressed with the results by 2005 that I asked the Egoscue therapists if I could study with them. Yes! They have a program for lay persons. I learned as much as I could and became certified as a postural alignment specialist - not a full blown therapist, but one who has been approved to help others. If I can point even a handful of individuals who think they will never get over their chronic joint pains, I hope you will give this book a try. It has some of my favorite exercise (ecise) routines.I recently sent this copy to a friend who had told me about his fingers and arms going numb when he was working at his computer.

Fantastic and illuminating
Fantastic book, not only well written, but illuminating on how the body works, why ergonomic solutions don't work and how to relieve problems at the PC. I am already making adjustments and doing the exercises to change my terrible habits at the PC and stop chronic pain.

Fantastic results!
I bought this book three years ago when I herniated discs in my cervical spine and experienced the worst pain ever. I refused to consider surgery or anything invasive. I believed my injury was brought about due to stress so I also believed I could reverse the affects. I found this book and it helped me understand the cause, get through the pain and return to having a healthy body. My posture greatly improved and I became much more aware of taking care of myself in ways I'd never thought of before.I regret that all my exercises fell by the wayside during a long stretch of not having enough time to devote to myself. Sure enough, it led to back pain. A week ago, I pulled out my dusty dog-eared copy of this book and have done the routine every day. I'm already feeling an incredible difference! I can't say enough. More people need to know about this simple, natural, logical approach that costs next to nothing. Thank you, Pete Egoscue!

Simple but Powerful
Amazingly simple exercises with great results. After just a couple of weeks my pain was reduced so dramatically that I was able to move on to the next level. I've been sharing these stretches in my morning stretch class! Thanks

This autor saved me from a surgery
This is a must have book for everyone who is not having a very moving life, meaning officeworkers and the like. The other book of this doctor is called "Painfree". At some point I was diagnosed with Carpal Tunnel Syndrome and sheduled for a surgery. I got the book and started the exercises. In literary 3 days the pain was gone. I never had the surgery and work even more on my computer than at that time. No more problems.

It works!
Pete Egoscue's theory that changing movement patterns will take away the pain is sound. You DO need to do the exercises, not just read about them. There are structured exercise programs that really work to recondition incorrect movement patterns, and done regularly, they do get rid of chronic pane. Regardless of your age, you can do these exercises. Some of them are not really exercises, but postures to hold to recondition muscles--easy and effective.

AWESOME!
These exercises are really working (as of 12/2/13). They have been the ONLY thing to help alleviate the pain of really tight neck muscles. I tried chiropractic techniques and deep tissue massage with only minimal and temporary relief. If you don't correct the source of the problem i.e. poor posture, the problem will never resolve itself.

No more computer-induced neck pain
I came across my first Pete Egoscue book in a second-hand shop in Skipton. It literally changed my life! We were on holiday and I was in a lot of pain from my back from a combination of sitting around too much and trying to do some walking (I have ankle problems so walking is difficult). My back got so bad that painkillers weren't touching it and I was crying with the pain. But the Pete Egoscue book helped where nothing else had. I did some simple exercises (nothing too exerting!) and they eased my back enough to do others that would build up the muscles and stop it getting so bad again.Once I was home and back on my laptop, though, I started getting what I thought were migraines again. I had been free of them on holiday. I ordered this book because it has been specifically written for today's postural pain problems. My 'migraines' turned out to be coming from my neck, which I was holding at odd angles thanks to my computer use.Egoscue gives sets of simple, easy to remember, exercises for different types of computer users - moderate, average and 'power pc' users. He talks about how to break patterns of pain. I was certainly guilty of that. I used to hold the telephone between my ear and my shoulder so I could input data as I talked. That's a very obvious, stupid thing to do but it is actually something many of us do all the time without realising.Another big thing that has helped me, apart from this book, is getting laptop stand. It raises the screen so I'm not giving myself neck pain from looking down at it.I have this and other Pete Egoscue books in the library at the training centre I run. I think they are vital reading for those who want to stay healthy in today's technology-driven environment.

pain-free at your PC
my problem with this book, is that there's too much in it, too confusing, although some good ideas. I don't think any normal person can work this hard at exercises on their own without being pushed by a personal trainer. Jim Johnson PT I find much better, as with him, you only have to exercise three times a week, can pick exercises that are easy for you to do, and vary them so as not to get bored. Got a few hints out of pain-free, but I think of the passing thebook on.

I bought multiple copies of this book for family, we are all impressed.
Also excellent book for problem pain. I would recommend “pain free” as well. Even though many exercises are in both they also do have other exercises and solutions to specific problems.

Our responsibility
The same as pain free a book that everyone should read as we all have to take responsibility for our own health.
