You won’t find a more exhaustive book on Calvinism anywhere
What an absolute awesome job explaining the historical background of Calvinism and explaining each of the 5 point linking them to the historical roots. This book will one of the few I keep near my bible.

Very good work on Calvinism
This is a very good work that keeeps your attention. Very well research work, that covers the history of Calvinism. If you want to understand the history of the reformed Calvinist view this is one of the books you should read. Its worth the money, and your time.

Calvinism
I have an interest in why de Tocqueville thought the Puritans of New England and their town meetings were an essential ingredient in American Democracy. This book helped explain why.

Best Introduction to Date
This book has been the standard history of Calvinism since it first came out. McNeill is NOT a calvinist but I don't detect any really biased statements. The narrative is quick and moves from the start of the Swiss reformation through the impact of Calvinism on modern culture. Of course, the last section is the least developed since it was written before the current revival of Calvinism and the rise of Reconstructionism and the "reprint Puritan" phenomenon. Still the best.
