Too small to handle the power and heat
A very small size is *not* a good thing when it comes to inverters. For a 1000 watt inverter this unit is incredibly small. Only 6 x 3.5 x 2.2 inches. Converting 12 volts to 1000 watts (2000 w peak) generates a lot of heat. Even if running at only 400 or 500 watts. The fan is a tiny 1.5 inch diameter and will have a hard time getting rid of all that heat, even if it is spinning all the time -- which is another thing you don't want in an inverter because a continuously running fan is not only noisy but will quickly burn out and stop working. When that happens it would only take a minute or two for this inverter to fry itself. I actually had another inverter that was just 500 watts and when its fan failed it not only fried itself but actually caught fire inside and filled my solar equipment closet with smoke. All inverters claim to have over-heating protection that will shut the unit down if it gets too hot, but I know from personal experience that such protection doesn't always work -- in fact it seems to fail and the unit self-destructs.When you look inside this inverter, all the components are under-sized -- they have to be to fit into this tiny case. They might handle the power, but not for long -- particularly when the inside of the unit is going to be so hot all the time.If you look at the low-cost 600 watt inverters from companies like Aleko or Gudag here on Amazon you will see that are 50% larger than this unit -- with 2 1/4 inch fans -- and they're only designed to handle 600 watts!
