Lovely writing with a poignant theme: Death and regret.
Of course it's classic Hemingway. He's often stereotyped as laconic and even "toxically" masculine, but, at least in these comparatively early writings, his prose was highly evocative and sometimes downright lyrical. It's the best thing about this famous short story, especially for those who haven't read him for a while.

Old style story telling
What a wonderful story teller. The story itself is quite banal: the selfishness of a woman of extreme beauty and the chaos left in her wake but the skilful weaving and bringing together of the framework and the minute detail were superb. Paris, Pamplona, San Sebastián and a magical fishing trip to clear mountain rivers were all beautifully detailed. The bull run and the bull fights were described with a clarity now now found in literature. It was a magical revisit after forty years.

Not so good
I generally do not like to read Hemingway, so I thought I should read this, to broaden my knowledge of literature. As with some of Hemingway's other books, I so disliked the main character - the man - that the book annoyed me. Charlton Heston's reading was very professional, and I enjoyed that. It is a rather short book so if one wants to get a taste of Hemingway this is a good start.

Not my fav Hemmingway.
Not my favorite Hemmingway story but Charleton Heston does a great job reading it. Very short recording so it is a little pricey.

Short but really good!
The writing in The Snows of Kilimanjaro is, as you would expect, superbly perfect! I really enjoyed listening to it.

Good read!!
The Snows of Kilimanjaro and other stories.Year of publication: 1961Genre: FictionThis book is a compilation of short stories by Ernest Hemingway. Most of the stories have a blunt ending and you can very easily see his love for hunting, fishing and about life after wars in these stories.Starting with story of a writer ( Harry) who is waiting for his death to this young girl Liz who reluctantly discovers the romance, a young couple who explored and ended their relationship to a young American who wanted a cat to accompany her. These short stories will make you think hard about the underneath emotions of each character. There is alot of intensity and the language which author uses is very powerful and strong. Hemingway's art of describing physical and emotional pain is praiseworthy. There were few stories I didn't liked much but overall book is a good read.
