Lava Signature Enameled Cast-Iron Round Dutch Oven - 2-3/4 Quart, Cobalt Blue

****UPDATED****July 2016I truly enjoy using this pot! I use this 2 3/4 Quart pot mostly for making rice. Regular rice, or highly seasoned rice. Use a little less water or other liquid than you normally would as this pot keeps the water/steam inside, which makes the BEST rice. This pot is durable and lovely and is very high quality. I say again that since I love Staub, this pan is clearly its equal. HIGHLY recommended.********************I wanted to use this a few times before rating it, but it was hard because it was so darn pretty out of the box. I got 2 sizes of this pot_the 2 qt and the 4 qt. I cooked a smaller chicken hen in the oven and to my complete surprise it came out a golden brown on top! In the past four me covered baked birds came out with mushy skin and required top off browning. I am posting a photo so you can see for yourself. I promise this was cooked with the lid on. I never knew how much difference a cooking utility made. I am just looking for new things to cook in these pots just to have an excuse to use them. One small criticism is that it does not come with spacers for storage of the lid. One other minor point is thatthe handels are not curved so if youhold the pot up to pour something out the corners are a little uncomfortable in your hand.Lodge and Staub which I also own come with spacers. This pot is just as good as lodge but since lava has a black slight rough interior like staub I think comparing it to staub is more appropriate. So far it does add good a job as my staub for less than half the price. Lodge enamel is more like le cruset. If you like staub you will be happy with lava.
