INCREDIBLE MUSIC AND INCREDIBLE SERVICE
I purchased a set of these speakers a couple of weeks ago in the gloss black. Initially I had some trouble getting them to work. It seemed to me that the transmitter wouldn't hook up with the speakers. I called Dan Hardin the owner of Dedicated Audio in Scottsdale, the shop that was selling these speakers. He was incredibly helpful. Walked me through the entire setup. When I still couldn't get them to work, he contacted Dynaudio and they sent me a new pair via Fed Ex the next day. I still had problems with one speaker and Dan had Dynaudio Fed EX me another speaker in one day also. They also picked up the returned speakers. All this was done at no cost to me. When Dynaudio got the speakers back, they hooked them up and said they played immediately. I finally changed the speakers and the transmitter to room three (a switch on the back of the speakers and transmitter) and they hooked up immediately and played beautifully. I had tried this previously without results. The only reason I could think of that was causing the initial trouble was my telephones and the router on my computer. The phones were wireless and operate at about 2.8 gigahertz. I think the router operates somewhere near that range. When you switch the room switch on the system, it changes the channel that the transmitter and speakers work on. I think room three is in the 5 gigahertz area. Anyway, once I got the signal confusion between the speakers, phones and router worked out, the system played beautifully. I don't know how much Dynaudio spent shipping speakers back and forth via FedEx next day delivery, but it must have been in the hundreds. However, there was never any hesitation or carping about it. They were simply determined to get my speakers working properly. Dan Harmon was the intermediary and handled all this for me. The level of service I got from Dan at Dedicated Audio and from Dynaudio itself was absolutely incredible. Too say these people stand behind their products is insufficient.Once I figured out what was going on, I finally got to listen to the speakers with some of my favorite recordings. I need to tell you that I play only CDs. I do not stream music and I do not play vinyl. Thus, these speakers are perfect for me. No matter what you input to the transmitter, it will be sent as a standard Redbook CD signal. If you have invested in a bunch of SACD CDs or you have a bunch of hi def computer music files, they will all come out as standard CD level sound. Now this may not be as bad as you think. The quality of sound that these speakers produce is so good that I doubt you would miss anything. The sound is incredibly good and the speakers extend down to the mid-30 Hz area. Actually I think they go a little lower. Instruments such as the bass drum and the double bass are reproduced incredibly well. The first time I heard the bass drum, it made me jump. I had never expected to hear something like that. Unless you are a devotee of electronic rock or pipe organ music, you will not need a subwoofer with these speakers. I listen to a lot of classical, folk rock, and jazz/jazz singing. These speakers are perfect for my tastes. The clarity of the voices and instruments is tremendous. The soundstage is beautiful and extends well out in front of the speakers. These speakers are truly high end.The reason I purchased these speakers was to keep harmony in the house. My wife absolutely refused to have any more "ugly speaker wires lying around on the floor." I had been living with a set of bookshelf speakers and minimal equipment crammed into a floor to ceiling bookshelf in our home. This was certainly not an optimal system, but was better than nothing. When I discovered the Dynaudio system for sale at $1999 from Dedicated Audio through Amazon. I went on a campaign to convince her that this system would be acceptable. There are no wires on the floor except the single power cord for each speaker. It is no different than a floor lamp. I did convince her and she is content with this speaker system. It is very compact for a floor stander and you can move it anywhere in the house and plug it in. The transmitter will transmit through walls for up to 50 meters or about 150 feet. When she heard the sound quality she fell in love with them.If you cannot live without the ultrahigh definition forms of music, then these speakers are not for you. However, if you are well-to-do, Dynaudio has just brought out a new upgraded form of this system called the XEO 6. It will play and transmit any signal up to 24 bit and 192 KHz. They have also boosted the power of the internal amps in the speakers and added a switch that you can set to "open", "corner", or "wall", depending where you place the speakers. This switch tailors the music for the placement you have set. The only problem with this system is that it is costly, reaching the high $4000 range.
